8 Ways My BFF Is The Ann To My Leslie

Parks and Rec might have a dynamic duo, but they have nothing on us.

Of course by my age, I have been through many best friends. There's the one from preschool that you still talk to, the one from elementary school who seems to have gone off the deep end, the one from middle school who turned out...interesting, and the one from high school who you try and keep in touch with, but it is tough with the new added distance of your colleges. Everyone always says that the best people you will ever meet are the ones that you meet in college and I can attest to the fact that that is 110% true. One of these friends was the most unexpected, and became my friend incredibly fast - like hurricane hitting a group of islands fast.

Quickly it became apparent that you and I were like one of the most iconic duos of all time, Leslie Knope and Ann Perkins from Parks and Rec. And here are the reasons why.

1. You understand my love of pretending to be on House Hunters, and are always eager to "townhouse shop".

2. We are close, so we are occasionally confused as being in a relationship.

This could not get any farther from the truth, so it is always hysterical.

3. You are always there to support my weird eating habits, and will definitely help me enjoy the pizza I order late at night.

4. You make sure to call me when you need a pep talk, even it's at 2am because you know that's how we roll.

5. We agree to disagree on small issues, even though we first make sure to convince the other that they're wrong.

Like the fact that I don't like chocolate.

6. We always stand up for each other, and make sure that we are the same page with who we dislike currently. And we are aware that those people can change at any time.

7. We always gossip about every detail of our boys.

I am sure you are sick of hearing about my boyfriend now, after a year. But, listening is your job.

8. You are the person who made me cry a lot when I left you for the summer, because you made such an unexpected impact.

I promise I will not change, and we will start up again as one of the best duos of all time in September.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
