Beyond The Green Grass
Alicia Sansone

Beyond The Green grass is a small little cottage. No one knows who lives in this cottage. Not one person has ever seen the doors open, but one day little Rachel saw the door open. She ran to the trees and watched as an older women came out with a little boy. She kept saying "it is okay Johny, everything is okay now!" Rachel waited in the trees until they left.

That night Rachel couldn't help but think, "who were those people?" She took out her book of fairy tales and read Cinderella, her favorite story, so she could fall asleep.

The next day Rachel went back through the green grass to find out who these people were. She slowly walked up the cobble stone pathway, up to the wooden door. Before she could knock the door swung open. There stood the little boy.

"Hi I'm Johnny, what's your name?"

"Rachel. Who are you? When did you move in?"

Johnny had a confused look on his face so Rachel said, "Everyone around the village has never seen anyone in this cottage before. No one has ever seen that door open!"

Johnny said with a cheerful look, "This cottage was owned by my great grandparents. It was given to my grandpa but they never moved in, so years later it was given to my dad. We moved in yesterday!"

"Well Johny, welcome to Beyond The Grass Village, but why was that women saying , 'everything will be okay?"'

"At first I didn't want to move here but after I saw you hiding in the trees I knew I would have a friend to show me a good time!"

After that day Rachel and Johnny became best friends and never left each other's side. There friendship will last forever!

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
