Beyonce

For the longest time, I had never truly appreciated Beyonce as an artist. I thought of her as a good singer from iconic songs like "Crazy in Love" and "Single Ladies," but I was never obsessed with her. When her "Formation" song came out, I was blown away. It’s honestly one of my all-time favorite songs because of how catchy, symbolic, and empowering it is. It has been since then that I have come to appreciate her for her overall amazingness. She is simply an astonishing human being. She inspires and influences millions of people. Despite her overall awesomeness, she is such a down-to-earth person. That is what makes her so real. We try to be like her, but we simply cannot reach that level of perfection and realness. There are, of course, some instances when Queen Bey embodies us.

1. When someone is being shady...

2. You know that haters are just afraid of you because you slay.

3. You’re pretty good at making great entrances.

4. Although you might sometimes struggle with self-confidence, you know that...

5. You can be a strong, intimidating person.

6. You realize you say sorry way too often, so you start being more conscious of what really deserves an apology. Sometimes you just have to be unapologetic about certain aspects of yourself.

7. You can have fun without anyone else.

8. When things don’t turn out the way you want them, you don’t just back down. You know how to turn things around.

9. You are a natural born leader.

10. People think you have a goofy, contagious laugh.

11. People try to be like you way too often.

All you can do is encourage them to be their own selves.

12. From time to time, you can be a daredevil.

13. People can't tie you down. You are a free spirit!

14. You are as passionate about certain things just as Beyonce is about singing.

15. You have similar philosophies as Beyonce.

16. You are a feminist.

17. You also try to advocate for other big social issues that we are currently facing.

18. You are grateful to everyone that has helped you become the person you are today.

19. You love your family.

20. You understand that life is short, so you have to seize the day. #CarpeDiem

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
