What size am I? I really don't know. Let me explain: I'm a size medium in some pants and a large in others. I can wear three different sizes of shirts--it all depends on what store I'm shopping at. I wish I could say "I'm a size medium" and have it be true for everything I bought. It would make shopping so easy. Clothes are supposed to have universal sizing, but anyone who's in between sizes knows that that isn't the case.
1. You bring several sizes of the same item into the changing room.
A trip to a clothing store is never as easy as "Wow that's cute AND it's in my size!" Instead, I have to bring at least two different sizes with me into the changing room because I never know which one is going to fit me. I carry in a heaping pile of clothes every time. Most of the time, one is too small and one is too large. Why isn't size medium-large a thing?!
2. Shopping isn't a stress-reliever; it actually stresses you out.
A lot of people go to the mall to do retail therapy and leave feeling better. I go to the mall and leave feeling frustrated. I have to force myself to go shopping for new clothes. It takes me twice as long as my friends to head to the check-out because I literally cannot buy things straight off of the rack.
3. If you buy something in the smaller size, it wears out quickly.
My tighter clothes don't last as long as my baggy ones. My leggings rip at the thigh's seams, my form-fitting dresses have zipper issues, and my jackets strain at my shoulders. It's only a matter of time before they rip--hopefully, not in public.
4. If you buy something in the bigger size, it's often too big.
Buying loose jeans is nice for flexibility, but I constantly have to tug them up. My big comfy shirts make me look like I'm drowning in fabric, and I'm always rolling up the sleeves. It's nice to always have some extra room in your clothes, except when you have to keep adjusting them.
5. You literally never know what size you are.
Every clothing store is a new adventure, and not in a good way. Just because a medium fits at one store doesn't mean you won't be a large at the next one. Not to mention that it's impossible to swap clothes with friends because they probably won't fit anyway.
