5 Reasons Why Beto O'Rourke Should Run For President In 2020

In This Article:

Beto O'Rourke was the primary democratic runner in the national senate race in 2018. He lost by a mere 200,000 votes, but this loss should not be taken so heavily. In how he campaigned these midterm elections, could and should define him as a viable candidate for the national democratic party; here are 5 reasons why he should run for president in 2020.

He is a Democratic rock star

To quote the lovely Chris Cillizza, political commentator for CNN, Beto is a political rock star. He started out as a good old nobody Texas representative and became a hotshot candidate for the national senate race that even non-texas residents love (hey there!!!!!)

He raised A LOT of money

Beto raised 38 million dollars which is three times as much as Ted Cruz raised as well as a record for the national senate race. The best part was that this was him refusing PAC money; this was money from the common everyday American individual of 254 Texas counties.

He has EXTREME dedication

If Beto can go to all 254 counties in Texas, what would stop him from just going to major cities in all 50 states? Beto has the dedication to care about more than people being votes. He sees citizens for the humans they are.

He supports equal pay

As a Latin-American woman who is still disgusted that my ethnicity is still being paid .54 cents to a white man's dollar, it is largely surprising that this was a major point in his campaign that equally working women and equally working men should be paid the same.

He is a family-oriented, honest man

Let's be honest; if there is one thing about politicians that is typical, it is that there is a lack of honesty. On the other hand, Beto has been known to own up to his mistakes. He even, in fact, uses it to teach others. Additionally, he is known for spending quality time with his family which is 100% awe.

While Beto O'Rourke has made no official comments on his plays for the 2020 elections, he should be nominated, and I'll definitely be on that campaign trail.

Blair Waldorf Quote
"DESTINY IS FOR LOSERS. IT'S JUST A STUPID EXCUSE TO WAIT FOR THINGS TO HAPPEN INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM HAPPEN." - BLAIR WALDORF.

The world stopped in 2012 when our beloved show "Gossip Girl" ended. For six straight years, we would all tune in every Monday at 9:00 p.m. to see Upper Eastside royalty in the form of a Burberry headband clad Blair Waldorf. Blair was the big sister that we all loved to hate. How could we ever forget the epic showdowns between her and her frenemy Serena Van Der Woodsen? Or the time she banished Georgina Sparks to a Christian summer camp? How about that time when she and her girls took down Bart Bass? Blair is life. She's taught us how to dress, how to be ambitious, and most importantly, how to throw the perfect shade.

too tired to care

We've all been there. From move-in day to the first finals week in college, your first term is an adventure from start to finish. In honor of college decisions coming out recently, I want to recap some of the most common experiences college freshmen experience.

1. The awkward hellos on move-in day.

You're moving your stuff onto your floor, and you will encounter people you don't know yet in the hallway. They live on your floor, so you'll awkwardly smile and maybe introduce yourself. As you walk away, you will wonder if they will ever speak to you again, but don't worry, there's a good chance that you will make some great friends on your floor!

Dear High School Friend Group,

My sweet angels, where would I be without you guys. We all grew up together because we either met in middle school or high school and watched each other grow up and get "old." We got to go to prom together and then graduate together. Then watched each other as we continued our lives in college, joining sororities and meeting people who will impact our lives forever. It all has happened so fast.
