Beta Theta Pi has been ordered to cease and desist all action on campus due to hazing allegations, according to Lynn Bushnell, vice president for public affairs.
"The university has issued the fraternity a cease and desist order prohibiting it from operating at the university until the student conduct process is completed," Bushnell said. "With the safety and security of our students being paramount, the university will simply not tolerate hazing of any kind by any group or individual and will act swiftly to remove from the community those held responsible."
Hazing is defined as playing unpleasant tricks on someone or forcing someone to do unpleasant things, especially during an initiation process.
This is not the first nor is it the second time a fraternity or sorority on campus has been ordered to halt all action.
Sigma Phi Epsilon was ordered to cease and desist in September, Tau Kappa Epsilon was issued a cease and desist order in December of last year and Alpha Chi Omega was ordered to cease and desist its operation in November 2013.
