We all have that someone who is the best best friend you could ever ask for. Somehow, I got lucky enough to call that person my uncle too. I don’t know how I was able to play my cards just right and have things end up this way for me, but I wouldn’t change it for anything in the world.

So this one goes to you, thanks for simply being you. I’d be lost without you. I may say it too much, but it’s because I never want a day to go by that you don’t know your worth in my eyes.

1. You never let me down.

A promise is a promise and you stick to that. You mean what you say, and I can always trust you will go through with whatever it may be.

2. You always know when I need you the most without me even saying a word.

You may be over 300 miles away, but you somehow always know when I just need that little cheerful text during the day or a surprise in the mail.

3. You never leave me out.

Even though there is an age difference between us, you allow me to be a part of your circle of friends and let me form friendships with them as well. You include me in your plans, and I feel like a part of the crowd with you guys.

4. You always have the right words when I need them.

Your advice is my favorite. You tell me what I need to hear at the perfect time, even if it is not what I want to hear. You know who I am, and you hold me accountable.

5. You are stronger than you realize.

Regardless of what battles God may throw your way, you make it through all of them so gracefully. You are such a strong individual, and it is inspiring. You keep such a calm attitude even during the roughest of storms, and that is amazing to me.

6. You have some kick-ass fashion sense.

You always give me great advice and let me borrow your clothes. I know you'll never let me leave the house looking like a mess. I also know I don’t have to be nervous when you buy me clothes for my birthday!

7. You push me to do my best.

When I am at my lowest low, you help build me back up. You don’t let me stay stuck in a rut any longer than necessary. You make sure I pick myself back up and keep going. You challenge me to do more than I think I can because you believe in me.

8. You have a heart three times bigger than anyone else's.

We love the same way. Therefore, we feel pain the same way. We relate to each other a lot more than I even realize sometimes. But, with a big heart comes a chance for more pain. We know that, but we don’t let it scare us.

9. I aspire to be like you every day.

Not only do I love you more than you know, I also look up to you. The way you tackle life head on with a smile inspires me every day. I hope one day I finally find the words to make it clear just how important you are to me.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
