Leading up to your first semester of college, you're going to hear a lot of things about what to expect from a college roommate. Some of them will be truths. Some of them will by myths. Then there's a whole other set of things that you might not hear at all until you find them out for yourself.

Here's 7 things people don't tell you about college roommates:

1. They don't tell you that your first encounter with one another will probably be very awkward. In fact for some your first encounter might be move in day and your parents spend time talking to each other way more than the two of you do.

2. They don't tell you that you will have to grow comfortable with the fact that often times you won't be on the same schedule. So don't pull a mom and wait up all night wondering where your roomie is.

3. One of you is bound to get sick. When this does happen one should evacuate the room and try not to catch the disease. Or better yet make the sick person soup and let them dictate what you watch on the TV.

4. You're going to have to get comfortable with each others bowel movements. Yes I'm talking about poop. You all do it. The more open about it you are the less awkward it is.

5. Don't share your clothes! Somebody will borrow something, make a big stain on it and then secretly the other friend will probably hold a silent grudge. This grudge is then finally let out five years later at your wedding in front of all your friends and family that you spilled on her shirt.

6. Sometimes you become better friends when you actually don't live together. Yeah you heard me, sometimes being with one person for too long they get on your nerves, but then you separate and things are completely different.

7. Sometimes your college roommate will become your best friend. They will bring out the loud laughs, the happier smiles, and the warmest of hearts. However, don't always plan on it. Because sometimes she's really the girl down the hall and you never knew it.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Blair Waldorf
Stop Hollywood

For those of you who have watched "Gossip Girl" before (and maybe more than just once), you know how important of a character Blair Waldorf is. Without Blair, the show doesn’t have any substance, scheme, or drama. Although the beginning of the show started off with Blair’s best friend Serena returning from boarding school, there just simply is no plot without Blair. With that being said, Blair’s presence in the show in much more complex than that. Her independent and go-getter ways have set an example for "Gossip Girl" fans since the show started and has not ended even years after the show ended. This is why Blair’s demeanor encompasses strong women like her.

singing
Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
