How To Combat Stress As A College Student

As an undergraduate in university, many students tackle the idea of stress from extracurricular activities and school work. What is the best balance between the two and how do many handle it? This is the most asked question and the biggest concern that many students in our generation have. Although there are many different ways that people deal with stress, such as watching a movie, listening to your favorite songs, eating good food, and more, these are some of the most effective ways, that I believe, helped me deal with stress and continuously help me deal with stress in university.

One of the most common ways I deal with stress in university is to just write it out. No matter if you are good at writing or not, just writing down your thoughts is actually very relieving. All those thoughts and opinions you have stored and bottled up in your mind needs to come out somehow. And talking to someone may be difficult, so just taking a piece of paper and a pen and just writing everything is extremely helpful. The good thing about writing your thoughts out is that you never have to give the paper to anyone and after everything, you can just throw it away. Since it is extremely unhealthy for your stress to be bottled up inside you, writing everything will definitely make you feel better.

Another way I deal with stress is to run or do any physical activity. I can say for a fact that I am definitely not a person who frequents the gym. Even if that is the case, I just like to go out to the gym or the park and just run my stress out. Putting on your workout clothes, headphones, and just start running is extremely stress-relieving. One of my favorite and most effective stress relieving activities is to run with loud music. Just blocking out everything for a quick moment and just keeping to myself really helps me think about and confront my problems and what I am stressed about.

On the other hand, being tired from physical activities, another way to deal with stress is to eat some of your favorite foods. I love finding popular and really good restaurants and just eat my heart out. Everyone always worries about whether certain foods are unhealthy, but with dealing with stress, you sometimes just have to eat what you want. Eating some of my favorite foods and definitely a lot of it helps me tackle my problems and deal with stress. I eat to the point where if I eat one more bite, I would just knock out into a deep sleep. That is the level I need to eat my favorite foods at to tackle stress in university and in general.

I know some of these ways may sound basic, but sometimes, the simplest of ways is what works the best. Whether it be just writing all your thoughts out, running until you are too tired, or eating until you knock out into a deep sleep, these are some of the best ways to tackle and deal with stress in university.

It's officially December. There is less than a month of 2024, and I still feel like yesterday was summer. Now comes the merriest time of the year, the Christmas season.

Everyone has been waiting for this time of year since mid-October (which is way too early, in my opinion) or before. It's a time of love, family, memory-making, and gift-giving. A lot of times when I ask friends and family what they want, I get a lot of "I don't know" or "I don't care."

I was sitting at my cubicle, now that I am an adult, looking at the rain pouring down on the windowsill, bumming on life, wishing for the rain to just stop for a full day.

There are moments where we count down the hours until work is over and how many more days till the weekend, and this many weeks until something exciting. Or something like that? Well, I was bumming because my next day off from work is not until Memorial Day weekend, which is not until the end of May. And since this is my first year out of college being a “real person,” I am totally missing the winter, spring and summer breaks. I am sure all of us have felt this way even if just for a hot minute…
