Here are the five classic gifts to show your valentine some love this Valentine's Day.

1. Gift a box of chocolates.

This one is a classic, and who doesn't love chocolate? Run to your nearest grocery store and get your valentine a great tasting box of chocolates, and don't get the cheap stuff! This is a great idea if your significant other loves sweets and is just a bit into the cheesy presents around this time. If your valentine isn't a fan of chocolate, don't sweat it and go over to the Valentine's Day section. There are so many other goodies and treats they may like.

2. Try a personalized bouquet.

Who doesn't love flowers? I feel like this is such an underrated gift idea. Flowers are the perfect way to brighten up your Valentine's Day. Whether it's roses or daisies, a bouquet is a classic go-to. Get their favorite color or favorite type. To make the bouquet even more special, buy smaller sets of flowers and put them together yourself. If you really want to get into their heart, go out to a garden and hand pick the flowers yourself.

3. You can't go wrong with chocolate covered strawberries.

I have been seeing people make their own chocolate covered strawberries all over my feed these days, and I just want to say they look so delicious! There are so many tutorials and techniques out on the internet. I think this a great gift idea that your valentine will love. Whether you do it yourself for your valentine or buy them from a store, chocolate covered strawberries are definitely on my list this year. You could also do this with any other fruit your valentine may like as well. Or even cover them in a healthier coating, like yogurt.

4. Buy a stuffed bear.

I know we have all seen that huge teddy bear at our nearest Target. Let's just say that bear has been calling my name, and I hope my boyfriend gets it for me this year. I am pretty sure most people are hoping to take home a cute stuffed animal this Valentine's Day, because let's be real, who doesn't want one? Get your valentine a stuffed animal they'll love this year. Trust me, this is one you can't go wrong with.

5. Write them a love note.

A handwritten letter is something that would make me just melt! Writing a heartfelt note to your valentine will make them feel really special. This is a great way for your valentine to be reminded of how you feel towards them and will always keep it. This can be a really sentimental note or even a friendly and funny one. Either way, a love note or Valentine's Day card is a cute and thoughtful gift.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
