What is the best thing to do when life is stressing me out and responsibilities are taking over my every thought? Take a vacation. Going on a little vacation allows me to relax, clear my mind and remember that "treatin' myself" is important sometimes. So, where is the best place to de-stress and recollect my thoughts? It actually doesn't require me to book that hotel room by the beach, either.

The best place to vacation is right at home.

Home is where my work schedule isn't. It's where the free wi-fi is. It's where my childhood room is. It's where the free laundry is, and most importantly, home is where my loving parents are.

A weekend spent at home reminds me that everything is OK. When life is busy with school, homework, work, rent, and bills, I can start to feel pretty bummed out and overwhelmed. A trip home to reconnect with my parents and to allow myself to relax is the best remedy when the stress of everyday life has become a little too much. Enjoying home cooked meals by the best chefs I know and embracing the simplicity of catching up on some movies on the big family couch clears my mind and puts what is important back into perspective. A busy schedule isn't something that I should allow myself fall victim to.

Coming home reminds me of the importance of taking a break from responsibilities and putting my feet up because, well, I deserve it! I can vent all of my stresses and worries to encouraging parents and gain a new and positive outlook on why I am doing what I am doing. I leave feeling refreshed and motivated to take on the next week with a new state of mind.

I don't have to break the bank to get a little relaxation and extra joy in my life. Dedicating my weekend off to a road trip home is the best kind of stress remedy that I could ask for. Being home reminds me of where I came from and that it is OK to sit back, relax and just be lazy. Home is, by far, my favorite get away.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
