5 Of The Most Underrated Ed Sheeran Songs
Haley Boyd

I am a loyal fan of a lot of things, and Ed Sheeran is definitely one of them. This obsession has gone from the nose bleed seats to 8th-row seats in concert. Talk about started from the bottom, and now we're here.

Growing up so close to a city like Chicago, I took advantage of the entertainment convenience. It was easy to go see concerts when I lived there because no artist is going to skip Chicago as a tour-date. So now that I live in Ohio, also known as the middle of nowhere, I don't have that convenience anymore. The point of the story is that my mom and I, being the avid Ed Sheeran fans that we are, flew to Atlanta, Georgia to see him in concert this past tour.

Now that you're convinced of how big a fan I am of the singer/songwriter, here are a few of the songs that I believe are very under-rated.

"One" - from album "Multiply"

We all know songs like "Photograph" and "Thinking Out Loud" because the radio broadcasted them as the next big wedding songs. Which is true, but "One" had the same potential as the two previous songs. It has everything a future bride would want; it's simple with the guitar strings and it is romantic with Ed's soulful upper harmonies.

"Nancy Mulligan" - from album "Divide"

This is a very special song because it's based on his grandparents and sung through his grandpa's perspective. This song is a perfect example of Ed Sheeran's ability to pull from any genre. Whether it's pop, folksy, indie, or rap. He can do it all. To all the people who believe that Ed can't rap because he doesn't "fit the part": you can't knock it until you try it. I rest my case.

"I'm a Mess" - from album "Multiply"

This is my personal favorite Ed Sheeran song. The constant beat crescendo throughout the whole number to having the music explode in the last minute is absolutely breathtaking. Out of the five concerts I've been too, he has played it four times. That can be seen as unusual since it's not one of his big hit singles, so I like to think that he knew I was there and wanted to play my favorite song. Call me crazy, but a girl can dream.

"Runaway" - from album "Multiply"

Out of all the songs on this list, the under-appreciation of this song probably frustrates me the most. He effortlessly tells a story throughout the verses and intertwines it with a catchy beat that doesn't get annoying after listening to it a few times. It also shows off his talent with a loop pedal.

"Give Me Love" - from album "Plus"

This is probably the least under-rated song on the list because it's up there with "The A-Team" and "Kiss Me" for most popular from his debut album in 2011. But I added this song because this is the first song I remember hearing of Ed Sheeran. I was in 7th grade, and I was on the bus coming back from a basketball game. I had the melody stuck in my head like a magnet to a metal board. I asked someone next to me if she knew the song I was thinking of, and she said "Give me Love" by Ed Sheeran. So I listened to it, and now six years later I'm still very much a loyal fan. Also if you haven't, do yourself a favor and click the link above. You won't regret it, trust me.

All of his songs are amazing, but I feel like these five definitely deserve more love and appreciation. Considering I listed three of the songs from his second album, "Multiply", I think it's safe to assume that it's the most underrated out of the three albums. Which is weird because that happens to be my favorite. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed reading this list as much as I enjoyed writing it!

5 Things To Do That Are Better Than Writing A Paper

Don't waste your time trying to write that paper when there are so many more interesting things you could be doing.

Writing a paper is never fun and is rarely rewarding. The writer's block, the page requirement, be specific, but don’t summarize, make sure you fixed any grammatical errors, did you even use spellcheck? and analyze, analyze, analyze.

Papers can be a major pain. They take up so much time and effort that by the end of the process you hate yourself and you hate the professor for making life so difficult. Questions of your existence start roaming in your mind. Am I even cut out for college if I can’t write a single paper? Am I even capable of taking care of myself if I lack the energy to open my laptop and start typing?

I can barely remember back when I was the only child. Most would say it’s because it is extremely difficult to remember things as a toddler but I would say it's because I was bored until my sister came along. My mother always says how important the "sister bond" is and with every year that passes I realize how right she is. Instead of writing a novel about all of the wonderful things there are about having a sister I decided to list a few of them instead.

It is the time of our lives that we are beginning to enter the adult world and most of us, if not all of us, have no idea what we are doing. It's like starting a video game, but skipping the tutorial. We're all just running around aimlessly hoping we accidentally do something right that moves us along the right path. Now that graduation has just happened, or is right around the corner for some of us, it's time to start thinking about how we are going to take care of ourselves once we are on our own.

College involves a whirlwind of emotions, whether it’s from the stress of an assignment (or twenty), or from fighting with your roommate.
