The Best And Worst 5 Seconds Of Summer Songs

In This Article:

Australian band 5 Seconds of Summer was created in 2011. The lead vocalist/rhythm guitarist is Luke Hemmings, their bassist is Calum Hood, their lead guitarist is Michael Clifford, and their drummer is Ashton Irwin. 5 Seconds of Summer, commonly referred to as 5SOS, is a pop-punk rock band with three world tours, two EPs, and three studio albums under their belt. So with a fairly vast musical catalog, here is my top ten 5SOS songs ranked best from worst.

1. Easier (Live From The Vault).

This version of the song is just ... *chef's kiss*. The studio version is good but it's more pop-like. This version is more gritty, more rock-sounding, and just true to their sound. "Easier" (Live From The Vault) was released in July 2019 and is a single on their upcoming fourth studio album.

2. Vapor.

This was almost number one but it is definitely a close second. These guys know how to do ballads, it's just pure emotion from the leading and back-up vocals.

3. Youngblood.

As the second single off their third studio album, I have a love for this song because while it is very pop, it is not as childish as their debut album. This song definitely shows growth and maturity from the band.

4. Want You Back.

https://www.facebook.com/5secondsofsummer/photos/a.320772121308594/1877094765676314/?type=3&theater

As the leading single and second track of their third studio album, "Youngblood", this song introduced a slightly new sound from the band. It's a more pop-leaning album, and this song has a great dance-pop/EDM feel to it.

5. Good Girls.

https://www.facebook.com/5secondsofsummer/photos/a.320772121308594/1617495478302912/?type=3&theater

As the third track and one of the singles from their debut album, this song is a bit of a cliche but it's such a nice little pop-bop. I can't help but love it.

6. Talk Fast.

https://www.facebook.com/5secondsofsummer/photos/a.320772121308594/1905291009523356/?type=3&theater

This is the fifth track off their third studio album, "Youngblood". The only reason it's not higher is because the structure of the song is a bit simple and repetitive, however, it's still pretty catchy and upbeat so it's still enjoyable to listen to.

7. Valentine.

https://www.facebook.com/5secondsofsummer/photos/a.320772121308594/1905291009523356/?type=3&theater

The fourth track and third single off "Youngblood" it's an anti Valentine anthem and I enjoy it very much, I've just loved all the other songs for longer and that's why it's not higher.

8. Hey Everybody!

https://www.facebook.com/5secondsofsummer/photos/a.320772121308594/1134594966592968/?type=3&theater

This is the second single and third track off of "Sounds Good Feels Goods". this song just missed the mark. It doesn't really fit the themes of the album, and it doesn't really fit their overall sounds. Just an odd song all around.

9. Ghost Of You.

https://www.facebook.com/5secondsofsummer/photos/a.320772121308594/1905291009523356/?type=3&theater

Again while I don't hate this song, it is definitely one of my least favorites. While I enjoy all of the band's other balllads, this one truly just missed the mark compared to other songs like "Beside You" or "Wherever You Are". I just feel like they could of done more with this song. This is the last track on "Youngblood".

10. Catch Fire.

https://www.facebook.com/5secondsofsummer/photos/a.320772121308594/1134594966592968/?type=3&theater

While I do not hate this song or think it is actually the worst, it is definitely my least favorite song by the band. It is the sixth track on their sophomore album, "Sounds Good Feels Good". The song, vocally, sounds just out of place and I'm not feeling it.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
