The Best Throwback Songs for Millennials

We can all agree that anytime a throwback song comes on, whether you are in a car or club, everyone freaks out and automatically starts dancing and singing along to every word. Kids are excited by things that connect them, and throwback songs do just that, unifying the 21st century generation.

The list below is meant to remind us of all the great songs we were lucky enough to grow up with, that have now turned into classics. It brings back nostalgic memories of middle school dances, high-school parties, and long drives with your friends.

In today’s age of music, we have strayed away from vinyl records and CDs and moved to digital downloads from iTunes and YouTube. No longer do you have to wait for your favorite musician to release a new song because you can get an album off the Internet the second it is released. But something about this just doesn’t feel right. The sound is not the same, and people are missing out on the value of the experience of listening to music and appreciating it.

Over the past few years, we have witnessed the rise of solo artists spanning all genres of music, versus the traditional band. While many solo artists have emerged and brought great new music with them, there is something special about a band setup. The strength of brainpower along with energy of multiple voices and hearts all fighting for the same dream comes from a band's members.

There has been a noted change in the trends of popular music in our culture. However, sometimes I think that some of the best music is behind us, although, I hope that this is not the case. The last thing our generation needs, as well as generations to come, is the loss of authentic, feel-good music. We have the duty as millennials to preserve our music and to never forget about the throwbacks. As members of the music consuming community we need to pay attention to the direction in which our cultures musical taste is changing, and make sure the beauty of music from the past doesn’t get lost within the exciting changes of the future.

10 Truths About Being In A Sorority

(For Girls Who Are Interested In Greek Life)

Sorority
Rebekah Lee

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
