All the positives of living in a dorm!
1. Having a roommateÂ

It seems like most people prefer their own room but for someone who has always shared a room, it'd be weird to switch it up now! Your roommate is your automatic best friend, living together creates a special bond.
I realize not everyone is close with their roommates but luckily, mine is one of my best friends. We happen to be very similar and the friendship was quickly formed.
2. It's never boringÂ
Something is always going on! Whether you're on your hall or in the lobby, you can always run into new people and make new friends.
My dorm holds some kind of "social" every couple weeks (usually an ice cream social) and as cheesy as they are, it's an opportunity to meet people and get out of the dorm.
3. Suitemates
Not everyone has suitemates but I happen to have six of them and it's the best thing ever.
Moving in, I knew half the girls I was living with through social media and the other half I had not talked to yet. It's an exciting experience to meet everyone and start the bonds destined to happen.
Living in such small quarters, you're forced to get to know each other. To sum it all up so far, I would say it's been very fun.
4. Great location on campusÂ
CofC has a smaller campus and most dorms are about a 10-minute walk, at most, to classes. My dorm is in a great location, it's very close to King Street and is just a short walk to cougar mall and the Cistern which, in my opinion, are the best parts of campus.
5, Being able to decorateÂ
Some dorms can be a real challenge to clean up and make them like home.
But part of the fun is giving your basic dorm a total makeover. My dorm consists of photos hanging on the wall, lights strung everywhere, and different art pieces wherever they fit!
Bringing pieces of home with you to college is always a good idea and makes your dorm more enjoyable and cozy.

6. All your neighbors!
Having people of your age live all around you is quite an adventure. This is one of my favorite things about living in a dorm.
Within my first week moved in, I accidentally barged into a guy's dorm thinking it was the common area for my floor. I was greeted by three very confused, yet friendly guys who are now close friends.
This embarrassing encounter has already gifted me with great memories with these new friends.
If you can't tell, I am so happy in my dorm living with the people that I do.
At some point in my college career, I will definitely live in an apartment off campus but for now, I am very content with the dorm life.
Being surrounded by people that are in the same situation as you, makes figuring everything out easier. You are not alone, you are surrounded by friends and colleagues.
