"Gossip Girl" was super popular 10 years ago, but who's to say it should be forgotten? There are some solid reasons why it should remain on your top 10.
1. Who doesn't love seeing drama between hot Upper East Siders?
Blair Waldorf and Serena Van der Woodsen start the best of all cat fights. The show starts off with Blair getting upset that Serena crashed her party. But why? Well, you may think it's based on some boy, but in fact, it is much deeper than that. Their comebacks are witty and fun to watch. And best of all, both of them are queens in their world. What's better than watching two queens squabble for their spots?
2. The boys on the show are to die for
Nate Archibald, the son of one of the richest families, played by actor Chase Crawford, should definitely not be missed! I cannot pretend that he wasn't one of the reasons that I was watching the show. With his beautiful blue-green eyes, his character is not one to ignore, for he plays a lot of important roles in the show. Including some of the most steamy ones!
3. Who could forget family drama?
Not only is 'Gossip Girl,' well, full of gossip, there is also relatable family drama. In fact, family is one of the things that nobody can change, even rich people on the Upper East Side. You're either born into it or not. And what's left is what you can do to change yourself to make your own parents like who you are.
4. Also, Chuck Bass—enough said
Swoon, swoon! Chuck Bass starts off as one of those boys you tend to avoid in high school. But his sophisticated charm comes out eventually. His love for Blair shines throughout the show, even though he has been extremely toxic for her. But who's to say that all relationships are perfect? Chuck Bass is the epitome of perfection, as he claims himself multiple times.
5. It's unexpected
Spoilers alert! How are we supposed to know that Dan Humphrey, Lonely Boy, is the anonymous identity that was behind Gossip Girl the whole time? I mean, besides the fact that he loves to write, we didn't think he would be exploiting people's lives.
6. Secret love affairs
Nate and Vanessa are one of the most underrated couples on this show. They should have been together. They were made for each other. But I guess some stuff on the show can never be explained.
7. The plotting and the backstabbing
Blair Waldorf is the queen of schemes and Chuck Bass is the king. No wonder they both fit so well together. They are the pair of matching suits in a set of cards. Not one 'Gossip Girl' fan dares to say they hate the schemes on the show; in fact, that's the thing that they are always looking forward to.
8. Old lovers
Anyone with eyes can see that they have that chemistry still flowing in their veins. Nothing can keep these two apart, not even new budding husbands.
9. Nobody ever seems to notice Dan
He is there, everyone. I mean, he is Gossip GIrl, and none of y'all seem to notice that. He may be lurking in the corners of every party, but he is watching your every move, waiting for your shining moment to be demolished.
10. But everyone seems to come together and love each other yet again
Even though there may be schemes, backstabbing, pain, and the feeling of love and betrayal all at once, the characters on the show always seem to know how to be there for the others and forgive each other for their mistakes. At the end of the show, everyone decides to leave behind their vengeful ways, and Dan agrees to close down Gossip Girl for good, once and for all.
