The holidays are the most magical time of the year. When you're a kid, holidays are full of mystery because of the magic that surrounds them. From Santa and red-nosed-reindeer to the Easter Bunny and colorful eggs. As we get older, we outgrow these beliefs, but the holidays are still a magical time whether you're a young child or a college student. The only difference is that the holidays begin to hold a different type, or a more "adult", magic as you get older. This magic is especially evident to me now that I'm in college and away from home. Here's a list of 6 of the most magical things about being home for the holidays.
1. Freedom from school
The holidays offer a break from all the stress of school. You get to leave that crazy semester you just endured behind and head home. Christmas break is what you look forward to from the second weekend of classes. Once it's finally here, it's a dream come true basically.
2. FOOD
Let's be honest, dining halls and Dominoes get really really old after a while. The holiday season is filled with some of the greatest home cooked meals (and not to mention cookies) ever to save you from campus food.
3. No alarms
You get to sleep for as long as you want.... in your own bed.... with no neighbors or roommates waking you up.... enough said.
4. The celebrity treatment
Durning the holidays you'll see family members that you haven't seen for months if not longer. When your family finally gets to see you they are all SOOO excited! They all have tons of questions to ask and they'll always remind you how proud they are of you. You may not be a Kardashian or Jenner, but durning the holidays you'll get some celebrity treatment of your own.
5. Free stuff
A trivial Target run had never seemed like such a great feat until I started college. So, when I'm home nothing beats having my parents buy me stuff just like they did durning the good ole days.
6. Home
The feeling and comfort found in your own home is unrivaled. It is somewhere where you're surrounded by unconditional love from the people who know you the best in the world. Absolutely nothing beats being home for the holidays.
