Companies spend months planning for the ridiculously priced 30 seconds of air time during the Super Bowl. As we wait for the 2017 game and commercials, here are some of the best from years past:
Coca-Cola: “Mean Joe Green”
A kid stops defensive tackle Mean Joe Green as he limps towards the locker room and offers him a Coke. Green takes the Coke and offers the kid his jersey in return.
McDonald’s: “H-O-R-S-E”
Larry Bird and Michael Jordan play a game of H-O-R-S-E for a Big Mac.
E-Trade: “Monkey”
A monkey and two people tap their feet to music in a garage. Animals and advertising are always great.
Budweiser: “Clydesdales”
Clydesdales play football on the range. A zebra plays the referee.
Reebok: “Office Linebacker”
The boss hires a linebacker to bring order to the office. When someone gets up from their desk to get coffee, Terry Tate tackles them at full speed.
CareerBuilder.com: “Monkey Business”
This commercial shows us what happens when a monkey runs a company.
Snickers and Betty White
After Betty White gets tackled into the mud she complains to a guy in his 20’s that “(He’s) been riding (her) all day.”
Volkswagen: “The Force”
A kid dressed as Darth Vader tries to use the force on his dog and his sister’s doll. He then tries to start the car and when it works, he looks startled and amazed by his powers.
Chrysler: "Half Time In America"
Clint Eastwood reminds us that in a time of division and blame, we have to rally behind what is right. Fitting.
Samsung: "The Next Big Thing"
It's a battle when Paul Rudd and Seth Rogen run into each other while waiting to reveal Samsung's next big thing but things don't go according to plan.
Doritos: "Time Machine"
Mr. Smith had doubts about time travel, but what can go wrong when a time travel machine is run on Doritos?
Mountain Dew: "Puppy Monkey Baby"
So weird you have to laugh. The ad was for the infamous energy drink, but it will be remembered by three words.
