As summer starts, many teenagers are trying to find jobs, so they can start saving up money. This is my last summer before college, so I definitely understand. All of these jobs can have flexible schedules. Whether you are wanting to work 10 hours/week or 30 hours/week, these jobs are perfect.
1. Be a cashier at a grocery store.
Of the three jobs I have had so far, two of them have both been a cashier position. Honestly, it's a relatively easy job that pays decent money. Most grocery stores start out above minimum wage and pay up to $15 an hour. You can work for a local grocery store, like Reasors, or a bigger grocery store, such as Walmart.
Babysit for your neighbors.
Babysitting is an old but good job. You can babysit pretty much any little kids you know. Most parents are willing to pay good money for someone to watch their kids during the summer while they are at work. If you love children, this is a great job for you. Also, most babysitting jobs are paid under the counter.
Work for a fast food restaurant.
This isn't the most glamorous job, but it's relatively easy to get a position in. Many places start hiring at the age of 16, but some go as low as 14 or 15. Most fast food restaurant either pay minimum wage or a little higher.
Waitress at local restaurants.
Just like working in fast food, this isn't a very sought after job. Many waiters/waitresses get paid way under minimum wage and have to count their tips as income. If you are good with people and can keep up with many things happening at once, this would be a good fit.
Work as a pharmacy technician.
This is a job I have wanted to try out but never applied for. There are several options for you here. You can work in a small, local pharmacy, a bigger pharmacy, such as Walgreens or CVS, or work in the pharmacy of a large grocery store, like Walmart or Sam's Club. Pharmacy techs make pretty decent money, and some places start hiring as young as 16.
Teenagers have many job options available to them. Depending on your personality, one job may fit better than another. I know for myself, I love working in a grocery store but hated working in a restaurant. Hopefully, these job opportunities helped you narrow down exactly how you want to make money this summer.
