Unpredictable weather patterns are a staple for Lexington, KY. Every University of Kentucky student knows how downright cold it can be one day, and then it magically feels like a Spring day the next. As someone who could literally be outside all day every day, the cold definitely changes my mind about wanting to study in the quad. Sometimes, however, we get lucky in the colder months and receive a few days of t-shirt weather. On those days, every single UK student can be found out enjoying the warmth. For the Wildcats who want a beautiful spot to study in when the weather is great, this list is for you.
1. Patio at Starbucks
The Gatton Student Center will always be a great resource for many things, and study spots are no exception. The patio outside of Starbucks is a great place to enjoy the weather, get your assignments done, and grab a coffee while you're at it!
2. Colorful lawn chairs
If you've been on UK's campus before, you've probably seen the numerous colorful and vibrant lawn chairs placed sporadically throughout the campus. When the weather is warmer, finding an open one is a difficult task!
3. Quad on south campus
In between all of the numerous Woodland Glen residence halls, is an enormous amount of green space. Grab a blanket to lay on the grass and study in the quad with numerous other students.
4. Third floor patio of Gatton Student Center
Making the list for a second time, the Gatton Student Center also has a few hidden gems when it comes to places to study. If you go up to the third floor, you'll find secluded patio areas that let you enjoy the weather without all the noises from other people!
5. Outside of Whitehall
I constantly see people sitting with their laptops on the cement half walls outside of Whitehall. Enjoy the warm Kentucky breeze while getting your studying in!
Sunny and warm days are anomalies in the winter months at UK. When they happen, many students take full advantage and spend as much time as they can outside. With these study spots in mind, you can take your studying to a whole new level while also enjoying the warm Kentucky sunlight.
