Best Spots of East Lansing

It kills me to write this article and reveal all of my favorite places of East Lansing, but as a senior I feel like I should pass on my knowledge of the down-low spots in East Lansing.

Here's my list of places that make East Lansing a truly enjoyable place in the fall.

  1. For a nice beach day... Lake Lansing, Okemos- The perfect location for a hot summer day.  My friends and I enjoy this spot during the first couple months of school every year.  You can fish, swim or just soak up some sun.
  2. For some authentic Mexican food... El Oasis Taco Truck, 2501 E Michigan Ave - If you like Mexican food then you’ll love the El Oasis food truck.  It’s extremely unassuming as it is on the side of the road and doesn't usually have many people outside.  However, don't judge it by its appearance because this will end up being one of your favorite food spots.
  3. For a scenic run... Baker Woodlots, MSU Campus- This is located on the very south end of campus.  I went here for a field trip one day and absolutely loved it.  We went on a nature walk while people ran past us on their daily workout.
  4. For a nice dinner with the parents... For Dusty’s Wine Cellar- This is east of campus and right off of Grand River.  It's a bit on the pricy side and a bit far so this is perfect for when your parents are in town.  Possibly introducing your parents to someone special!
  5. For a potential date party... Lugnuts, Lansing- Come here for some afternoon debauchery filled with beers and baseball players whom you have absolutely no idea who they are.  This is always a fun time.
  6. For the perfect fall afternoon... St John’s Cider Mill- One of my favorite places to go on a spontaneous 30 minute trek outside of East Lansing.  I recommend you go on a weekend and closer to Halloween.
  7. For a butt kicking workout... Flex City Fitness- In the heart of the city of Lansing you can find Flex City Fitness.  Your instructors will work you to the bone and you'll probably feel the pain for days.

Sorority
Rebekah Lee

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
