If you're like me, A.K.A. you like to procrastinate and then internally panic that you have a lot to do and no time to do it, you probably find yourself searching Spotify endlessly for the one song you need to get you going. If this is such the case, you may just want to throw some of your own pump up songs onto a playlist and call it a day. For doing so, here are some of my own recommendations.
1. "Surfin'" by Kid Cudi
This song is off of the famous rapper's 2016 album, "Passion, Pain, and Demon Slaying." Between it's "be yourself" lyrics and the killer beat, it'll have you wanting to finish that history paper you just put off all week.
2. "Another Brick in the Wall, Part 2" by Pink Floyd
Honestly, if you don't listen to any Pink Floyd, do you even listen to music? I love most songs by this band, but the instrumentals of this song get me amped and pumped up to kick some butt.
3. "Get'cha Head in the Game" by the cast of High School Musical
You didn't think you were going to get through this article without some form of Disney, did you? In all seriousness, whether you imagine a seventeen-year-old Zac Efron sweating in a basketball uniform like I do or not, this song should still convince to wake up and get your heart in the song (or head in the game).
4. "Happy" by Pharrell
OK, you might not get completely pumped up to do your work if you're imagining several hundred yellow minions, but this song doubles as one of my happy songs on top of a 'gotta go get my stuff done before I fail out of college' songs.
5. "Don't You Forget About Me" by Simple Minds
Not only do I get to imagine a 1984 Judd Nelson during this song (yum), but it also makes me remember that I only have one life to live and I should live it while I'm here. Sounds cheesy, but what else would you expect from the soundtrack of an 80s movie?
6. "September" by Earth, Wind, and Fire
This song may just end up resulting in a self-dance party, but it's still worth it. The upbeat rhythm will have you sliding into bell-bottoms and getting you workout ready in seconds.
7. "Send Me On My Way" by Rusted Root
Or any Rusted Root for that matter. These songs always make me want to go climb a mountain, but also remind me that I won't get to do so unless I actually finish college and make money first.
8. "For Once In My Life" by Stevie Wonder
Stevie devotes an entire song to talking about how happy he is to have the right person in his life and achieving his dreams. How can that not make you want to wake up and kick butt?
9. "You May Be Right" by Billy Joel
With a basic meaning that tells people they need a weirdo in their life, this song will get you amped to turn your dreams into plans.
10. "Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting" by Elton John
It doesn't really matter what day of the week it is; every day of the week is okay for standing up for a fight and going out for what you believe in.
