The Best Shows to Binge Watch Over Break

So now that you are home on Christmas break, you are probably wondering what you are going to do for the next few weeks. My guess is that Netflix just might become your new best friend. If you are looking for a tv series to binge watch, here are a few of my favorites that I highly suggest.

1. "The Vampire Diaries"
This show has it all: hot guys, funny lines, action, suspense, and plenty of drama and love triangles. Seasons 1-5 are on Netflix and Season 6 just wrapped up its mid season finale. I got my roommate hooked on this show this past semester, and after one episode, you will probably be hooked too.

2. "New Girl"
If you want to laugh this is the show for you. It stars Zoey Deschanel as Jess Day, the funniest, quirkiest, most lovable character on TV right now. She along with her best friend Cece and her four male roommates manage life as adults and the strange situations that they always seem to get themselves into. It is a half hour of laughs that has made me cry because of how hard I was laughing.

3. "Scandal"
If you want drama and mind-blowing moments, then Scandal is the show for you. It is about a "fixer" named Olivia Pope who conquers the problems of Washington DC with her fellow gladiators. Oh and did I mention that she is having a secret affair with the President of the United States? This is a show that you will not want to miss.

4. "Gilmore Girls"
Although this show has sadly been off of the air for a while, the whole series is thankfully on Netflix. The show follows the lives of mother and daughter duo, Rory and Lorelai Gimore and the rest of the small town of Stars Hollow. Viewers get to watch as Rory goes to high school and then college and then eventually graduating and getting a real job. This show is one of the best shows that I have ever watched. It is one of the few good hearted shows on television that is the perfect blend of humor and romance and just real life. It is a 100 percent must watch.

5. "Once Upon a Time"
This show is perfect for the fairy tale lovers out there. This show is extremely clever and very well written. It is made by the creators of "Lost," and if viewers do not watch every episode in order, they too may be lost. The show takes place in the town of Storybrooke where a curse has been placed on the town by the Evil Queen. The town is full of characters like Cinderella and Snow White and Rumplestiltskin, but they have no clue that they are fairy tale creatures. It is a wonderful show that pushes the imagination and forces you to always want to see what happens next.

6. "One Tree Hill"
This show is amazing to binge watch whether it is your first time through the series or your seventh. This show has so much heart that it is impossible not to fall in love with the characters. True fans can even travel to Wilmington, NC and view the town that the show was filmed in. (I have down this, and it was incredible). The show follows the lives of brothers Lucas and Nathan Scott and their very different lives and friend groups. The show is full of basketball action, humor, romance, and of course a few crazy people and death.

I hope that this wonderful list of shows will give you guys a starting place as to which shows to watch over break. A few other suggestions are "Nashville," "Chicago PD," "Chasing Life" and "Bates Motel." Enjoy your few weeks away from school, and enjoy the new characters that you are about to fall in love with.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
