The following is a list of a few of my favorite beaches in Rhode Island to go to during the summer. I've gone to these beaches many times throughout my time living in the state and I definitely recommend all of them.

1. East Matunuck State Beach

This beach is definitely my favorite, which is why it is first on the list. In my opinion, East Matunuck is always clean and the water is always clear. The waves are also good if you're someone who likes bigger waves.

2. Goddard Memorial State Park Beach

For people who like a more secluded beach, this is definitely the one for you. What's great about this beach is that it is a 5-minute drive from Main Street in East Greenwich so if you're looking to grab a coffee or a bite to eat it's very close.

3. Roger Wheeler State Beach

I love this beach because the water is usually warmer because of the rock jetties that separate different sections of the ocean. The waves are also smaller and there is less undertow, which makes a much safer swimming situation.

4. Warwick City Park Beach

Another more quiet beach for the list. Personally, I love smaller and less crowded beaches in the summer when I don't want to run into people I know. This beach has warm water with usually little to no waves and the water isn't too deep.

5. Narragansett Town Beach

This is definitely one of the more popular beaches in Rhode Island because of its location. Although it is more expensive to go to, a perk of going to this beach is being able to walk to many different restaurants and cafes, such as Cool Beans Cafe to get good food.

6. Mansion Beach on Block Island

This is my personal favorite beach on block island. The water is crystal blue and it isn't as crowded as more popular beaches such as Ballards on the island.

7. Second Beach in Newport

Second Beach is one of my favorites to go to when I want to venture outside of the Narragansett beaches. The beach and water are always clean here.

8. Scarborough State Beach

If you like big waves this is definitely the beach for you. There are no rock jetties whatsoever and it's a lot of open water. The beach is also much larger with a lot of parking space, so you're guaranteed to definitely find a spot to park to get on the beach.

9. Misquamicut State Beach

Located in Westerly, this beach is 51 acres and is located in an absolutely beautiful place.

10. Ballards Beach on Block Island

This beach is definitely the one to go to on Block Island if you're looking for an upbeat social setting. There's always music blasting and the environment is very fun.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
