I picked these based on a spectrum of prices — from the most expensive to the most budget-friendly!
1. Hen of the Wood.
This is pretty much one of the most expensive places to dine in Burlington — and for a good reason. The food is an experience. Despite the lowest priced entree being $19 and the highest being $33, your food comes to you beautifully presented, which is a great chance to be “that person” and take a picture of your food with your phone.
The atmosphere at Hen of the Wood is warm, inviting and intimate, making it perfect for the holiday. This restaurant is known for their fantastic collection of wines and beautiful food. For appetizers, order the dinner rolls! Sounds funny, but trust me. These rolls arrive to your table golden, buttery and warm. So delicious. For your entree, I would suggest getting the hanger steak. It is melt-in-your-mouth, cooked perfectly and comes with a smoked sweet potato puree that is simply incredible.
If you're wondering where to sit, I would suggest trying to snag a table in front of their gorgeous fireplace. This is the perfect place for a super special and romantic night with your partner.
2. Sweetwaters.
I love this place! Their pulled pork nachos are so addictive that you might even wake up the next morning with a craving for more. They offer a wide range of food including “bistro favorites,” paninis and burgers. The lowest priced main entree is $16 and the most expensive is $21. The atmosphere of this restaurant is classy, charming and romantic.
For entrees I would recommend getting the Raspberry Barbecue Brick Chicken, which is served with roasted red pepper, chipotle creamed corn, seasonal vegetables and raspberry barbecue sauce. If you were to chose a burger, I recommend the sweet waters burger, which comes topped with sauteed mushrooms, caramelized onions, bacon and swiss. This is a solid option to go with for dining on Valentine’s Day.
3. The Farmhouse Tap & Grill.
This was the first restaurant I visited with my mom when I moved to Vermont. The food has a special place in my heart because of that. The restaurant has a rustic Vermont atmosphere, but it kind of has the feel of a modernized pub. This is appropriate as they are known for their hearty burgers. It is pure comfort food with an elegant twist.
At this restaurant, the least expensive entree is $16 and the most expensive is $33; however, the Misty Knoll Free Range Turkey Burger is $17 and totally worth it. This burger comes with blue cheese, cranberry mostarda, arugula and grilled onions. Burgers might not seem romantic, but these aim to impress. This restaurant is perfect for a more laid back, comfortable and romantic night out.
4. The Skinny Pancake.
You simply cannot go wrong with The Skinny Pancake. If you and your partner are more breakfast or brunch types of people, then this is the quintessential place for you. I could eat their crepes all day and be so happy. The atmosphere of the restaurant is bustling and has a charming rustic feel. They offer both savory and sweet crepes for a decent price: the least expensive crepe is $4 and the most expensive is $13.
All of the crepes I have had at this restaurant has been beyond excellent. I would recommend The Crepedilla, the Cattle Rancher and the Pooh Bear. The Crepedilla, which is my go-to when I come to this restaurant, consists of scallion crepe batter, Cabot cheddar, black beans, pico de gallo and chipotle sour cream. It does not sound like much but I can promise you that it is bomb.
The Cattle Rancher is a savory crepe that comes with braised beef, caramelized onions, roasted red peppers, Cabot cheddar and with a side of chipotle sour cream. Whereas the pooh bear is a sweet crepe, simply made with Vermont honey, cinnamon sugar and whipped cream. I love ordering both a sweet and a savory crepe when I come here because it is the best of both worlds.
These are all fantastic restaurant options to spend Valentine’s Day with your loved one at. After all, nothing says “I love you” like food does.
