If you have not heard of YouTuber “iamtherealak,” you should really get familiar because he is going to be around for awhile. AK’s heated songs seem to have a reoccurring theme of observance and accountability — he raps about life. This rapper does not choose to turn a blind eye to what is going on around him — he confronts his problems head on. AK is not a simple and dumbed-down pop-culture icon much like Migos or Nicki Minaj. He talks about more intelligible and personal topics within his remixes and personally written songs. He clearly identifies and brings to light that as a country we are very divided, but as one we can stand united.

AK encourages his fans to stand together and to be accepting. AK raps about how if someone does not like what you are doing, discourages you or attempts to stand in your way, then you should tell them how you feel and walk away with your chin up. He further encourages his fan-base to never stop pursuing their dreams and to always keep reaching for the stars.

We can all get behind that, right?

Seventeen-year-old AK or “iamrealak” represents himself on Twitter, Facebook and YouTube. Check him out. You will not be disappointed if you are a lover of rap and if not you might even start to after listening to this.

This artist realizes the importance of raising others up and not putting people down. I love how his lyrics can really encourage me and push me through the hard times that I can sometimes encounter. What makes his music good is that he is relatable cross-culturally. So... Let’s unite.

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
