Kylie Jenner’s recent ramen hack release has got a lot of people thinking: What else can I put in my ramen to shake things up? Ramen is an underrated food; it’s a requirement for any college student’s dorm because they’re price savvy but they’re also delicious. That little packet of flavor does so much for us, and requires no effort at all, with that in mind, we wonder what kinds of magnificent ramen recipes we can create if we just try a little harder. Fortunately, one look at the internet shows us plenty of ramen inspiration.
1. Kylie’s Ramen Noodles
If you’ve ever wanted to eat like a Kardashian/Jenner, here’s your chance. In case you missed it, Kylie posted her ramen of choice on Snapchat a few days ago. Kylie Jenner’s ramen includes butter, garlic powder, and an egg. The folks on Buzzfeed tried her recipe, and you can see the video here.
2. Winter Chicken Ramen
For this recipe, everything gets cooked in the broth. Just add chicken, cabbage, spring onions, and hard boiled eggs. This is one of the fancier ramen hacks, and definitely strays from the easy convenience of normal ramen, however if you’re looking for some protein then this is the way to go.
3. Japanese Style Ramen
This recipe uses the pork flavored ramen. All that is required are scallions, miso paste, a soft boiled egg, mushrooms, and some pork. This is a favorite for pork fans, obviously. Cook it all together for a pork-Japanese-y ramen meal. If you prefer chicken flavored, you can substitute the meat for chicken.
4. Chicken Noodle Ramen
Begin this recipe with chicken flavored ramen, add celery, pepper, parsley, carrots, chick, and olive oil. If you’re feeling sick then this is the recipe for you. The homey tastes of chicken noodle soup pull through this not-so-normal chicken noodle recipe. If you’re like me and favor the noodle side of this recipe then this will be heaven.
5. Ramen Carbonara
For one serving, this recipe calls for one egg, one egg yolk, parmesan cheese, pepper, bacon, and some olive oil cooked in a pan. The egg mixture will turn into a creamy sauce, but don’t cook it too long or the eggs will become scrambled. This will put a little Asian-like twist on our favorite Italian Carbonara.
6. Saucy (or Spicy) Ramen
If you’re a simple girl who likes simple add ins, adding in some kind of sauce or condiment will upgrade your ramen instantly. Add in something like miso paste, chili bean sauce, thai curry paste, or Japanese curry powder. If you want to add spices, be sure to skip on some of the seasoning packet if the spice is on the salty side. For example, you could add white pepper, Sichuan pepper, or chili flakes. The possibilities are endless.
7. Ramincinnati Chili
It’s common for people to put chili, cheese, cinnamon, and sour cream on spaghetti noodles. Try it for your ramen! It’s a simple recipe, and although it doesn’t taste too much different than normal Cincinnati chili, it’s a softer noodle.
8. Ramac and Cheese
Cook the ramen noodles, stir in some cheese sauce (homemade or Velveeta is fine) and a bit of water. After that, pop it in the toaster oven. You’ll be left with a golden brown crust and melty, cheesy, ramen-y center.
