The Best Political Duo

With the insanely polarizing and confusing 2016 election upon us, many people do not know who to vote for. Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton are controversial, and many people are left seeking other options. In accordance with electing the first female president, there may be a great solution: the perfect team of Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. While two female comedians might not seem like perfect political contenders, they are actually very qualified.

1. They both have college degrees.

With Tina Fey a graduate of the University of Virginia, and Amy Poehler having attended Boston College, they are educated women.

2. They are old enough, but still youthful!

Tina Fey is 46 and Amy Poehler is almost 45, meaning that they surpass the legal age of 35; but, their recent roles in Sisters prove that they can still do anything, especially with the ageist attitudes in Hollywood.

3. They know politics.Tina Fey is renowned for playing Sarah Palin on Saturday Night Live, and Amy Poehler has played Hillary Clinton on SNL as well as successful local politician Leslie Knope on Parks and Recreation, showing that they know the ins and outs.

4. They are very successful women, and have played such.

Both Leslie Knope and Liz Lemon from Fey's 30 Rock are successful women who know what they want, which is pivotal for politics. Fey was also the first female head writer on SNL, a milestone for women in comedy!

5. They can write well and improvise.

Giving impromptu speeches is one of the most commonly done things in politics, and these two women's improv training is a great help.

6. They are well-liked and inspirational.

The duo have inspired many young women in the comedy world, like Mindy Kaling, Lena Dunham, and Amy Schumer, and just think of what they could do in politics.

7. They address social issues every day.

Using satire to point out the flaws in society, the two mock sexism, homophobia, and other problems, and they would continue to help people.

While these two might not be trained politicians, they are very well-qualified to run a successful poltitical campaign. Fey/Poehler 2016!! For an America that's not like a regular country, it's a cool country.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
