The Best Places To Hang On Purdue's Campus

In This Article:

Purdue's campus is full of plenty of spots to relax and to enjoy the campus. Some of the places might be a bit different from most people's favorite places on campus, but some of these are the hidden gems of campus and some of the more obvious places around Purdue's campus.

The Fountain by the Bell Tower

I don't know if there is a name for this fountain, no one ever talks about it, but this fountain is quiet and peaceful, and perfect for people watching. I like to sit on the edges of the fountain, but it's a lot deeper than it looks. It also gives you the view of the Purdue University bell tower which is undeniably beautiful (as long as the clock isn't falling on anyone's head). Not to mention the flowers usually growing around the fountain and the large amount of sun you can get.

The Engineering Fountain

The Engineering Fountain offers more than one place to relax. People hammock in the trees, which is amazing if you have a hammock, which is amazing during the rare warm weather. You can also sit on the edge of the fountain which was where I finally found myself wanting to go to Purdue, happy with my boyfriend in the light of the fountain. There are also lawns to sit and eat or study or simply just relax in the sun or the shade. The engineering fountain has plenty of relaxation spots all in one, but by the picture above, you can see how beautiful it is all lit up at night.

Outside of WALC

It gives you a chance to study, or enjoy the shade and the sun. There are plenty of places to sit and study by yourself or with a group. It also gives someone a chance to sit and relax before in the sun, on either the blocks or the tables. It's usually kind of crowded, so you have to be sure to get there before the crowd.

Loeb Fountain

This fountain is great when it's really hot and you can feel the mist of the fountain outside. There are also usually a lot of dogs running around this fountain and in the fountain, which is super exciting in my opinion. There can also be a lot of children there on the weekends in the warmer months. However, if you end up in the fountain during the fountain run, it's going to be next to impossible to see. It's amazing to see during the day.

Lambert Fieldhouse

Lambert Fieldhouse is one of the hidden gems of Purdue University. It's falling down on the inside, but the outside is beautiful. There are places to sit, and you are able to walk close to Cary Quad, which is so beautiful and a great place to relax, but it is also close to the Cary Knight Spot. It's also right by Mackey and Ross-Ade which allows for plenty of time to watch sports.

Krach

Krach has two things. An amazing place to study with four floors with plenty of place to study, but also Krach Lawn with a great place to hang out. You will also see a couple events happen here, as well as a couple of organizations. You can also watch the role players and have a lot fun outside on the lawn, which provides a nice study break while in Krach lawn.

Anywhere in Windsor or Honors

These halls are easily some of the most beautiful on campus. There's a lot of places to relax and have lawns and benches. There are flowers, and an unbelievable amount of places to meet with friends. They also have a movie theater and are conveniently close to the CoRec, so you can play sports and hang out there as well. Windsor halls also has the Honors college nearby with plenty of places to relax and study as well. Honestly, there is no limit to how much you can do in these halls.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

"I don't want to do things. I want to do not things."

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.

Dear Mom,

You took care of me and my brothers our entire lives and you still continue to! I will not be able to truly grasp all of the hard work that you put into this family until I create my own one day. But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.
