Because spending money can be hard.

As someone who is cautious with my money, it is extremely difficult for me to justify spending a lot of money on a new shirt. But I really love new clothes. I want to be stylish. I want to be cool. So here are a few of my favorite places to buy used clothes so I can look fashionable but not hate myself for spending $70 on a pair of jeans.

1. Poshmark

This is by far my favorite place to find cheap clothes online. You can buy used clothes from people for way less than their original price. I usually bid down a lot less than the price people ask for originally as well because shipping isn’t included in their posted price, and my bid almost always gets accepted by the seller. But my favorite part of using the website is when the sellers include thank-you cards or wrap your clothes in a cute way. It’s like getting a Christmas gift in the mail which is hard for anyone not to love.

2. Thred-Up

-There are plenty of great brands on this website, and the first time using it you can get free shipping on your order. It can be difficult sometimes to find something I really like, but I like just checking up on the app when I am in the mood for some new clothes. And unlike Poshmark, you do not buy clothes from the individual sellers so the packaging is consistent and always very cute.

3. Yard Sales

-Some people hate yard sales because they think all they ever find is junk, but that’s usually because they don’t know how to go to yard sales. A couple of my favorite shirts have come from yard sales. And you cannot find clothes cheaper than you can at a yard sale. My recommendation for buying clothes at yard sales is to really look, and to go to a lot of yard sales at the beginning of a yard sale weekend because that is when you will find the best things in general and also, you are not guaranteed to find something you really love at every yard sale, so you need to be committed.

4. Thrift Stores/Plato’s Closet

-Depending on what you are looking for will really determine where you might want to shop for your clothes. Plato’s Closet is going to have the more popular and expensive brands you might be looking for and just a wider selection of things you might want to buy. Thrift stores are typically cheaper, but you might have to look a little harder to find something you want.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
