Columbus Home Show

Columbus, Georgia is my hometown, and I am so proud to be from this GREAT city. I think that we have some great restaurants, some are new and some are oldies, but either way, they are goodies. I have narrowed down five of the best restaurants in Columbus based on both my personal opinion and the opinion of others around me.

Guadalajara Mexican Restaurant

I had never been to Guadalajara until this past summer when I started dating my boyfriend and he insisted that it was the best Mexican food he had ever had. And, as hard as it is to admit....he was right. And this includes El Carrizo, which I HATE to say. I still love you, El Carrizo, you are a VERY close second. If you haven't been to Guadalajara, though, you really have to try it. You won't be disappointed. Get the chicken quesadillas. Or the chicken enchiladas. And don't forget the queso.

The Speakeasy

The Speakeasy has been around forever and it's been one of my favorites since I was little. My family went here ALL THE TIME. We always started with the Ranchos. They are the best nachos you will ever eat. I promise. I literally get something different every time I go. The Camel Rider, the Hombre, Greek pizza.... EVERYTHING IS SO GOOD. If you live in Columbus and haven't been to The Speakeasy....you're missing out on life and you have to go right now. There's also a game room. So, that's awesome.

Zombie Pig

This is another place that I never tried (because it is relatively new) until I started dating my boyfriend. It's a barbecue place. And, before you write this restaurant off because you don't like barbecue, it doesn't matter. You will like this barbecue. It's the only barbecue my boyfriend likes and he LOVES it. They give you a HUGE barbecue sandwich and that barbecue will melt in your mouth and I'm not exaggerating. The sandwich is so big, you will probably have to eat some of the barbecue by itself before you can even eat the sandwich. Their sauces are also amazing. And their sides. It's delicious and very affordable.

Country's Barbecue

I would pretty much be crazy not to include this one because so many people love it so much. It's basically a town staple. Columbus just wouldn't be Columbus without Country's barbecue. My aunt loves Country's chicken fingers and with good reason, they really are delicious. I also love the Cue Stew. If you like Brunswick Stew and you like barbecue, the Cue Stew is perfect for you. Country's also has a great environment. It's hard not to feel welcome there.

The Cannon

The Cannon is a bit more expensive, but it's awesome. It's downtown and in a great area for shopping and just walking around in downtown. I go to school in Augusta, Georgia and I was at Buffalo Wild Wings once and saw a sign for The Cannon is Columbus. I'd say that's proof enough for how great it is. My favorite thing that they have is the Monte Cristo.

So, there you have it. Five of the best restaurants in Columbus. Get out there and try them all!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
