As a college student I'm looking forward to Thanksgiving more this year than ever before. Being away from home has definitely helped me to appreciate many things more and it doesn't hurt that a five day weekend means five days of no school work. Here's the top ten things I'm looking forward to over Thanksgiving break!

1. Seeing my friends from high school

While I've been home a few times this semester already this will be my first time home when all my friends from high school are home at the same time as me.

2. Seeing my pets

As always, my favorite part of coming home is seeing my cat and my dog. There's nothing like being greeted by excited fur balls when you walk in the door.

3. Seeing my family

I'm looking forward to binge watching tv with my sister, getting outsmarted in arguments by my brother, online shopping with my mom and running errands with my dad.

4. Food

Thanksgiving is known for its food but even more than that I'm looking forward to eating at some of my favorite restaurants that I don't have access too here.

5. Break from work

While fall break was longer there were definitely more assignments for me to complete during it. Even though I'll have a little bit of homework over break, after having spent the last two weeks with a heavy workload it will be a much needed break.

6. Showering without shoes

There's nothing quite like taking a shower without flip flops.

7. Sleeping in my own room

Being able to watch tv headphoneless in the middle of the night is one of the things I miss most from home and I'm looking forward to spending five days doing just that.

8. Catching up on tv shows

With the work piling on as we near the end of the semester I haven't had nearly enough time to binge watch shows on Netflix or catch up on my favorite on air shows.

9. Reading a new book

Seeing as I barely manage to do all of my reading for class I definitely haven't had the time for read for pleasure recently.

10. Christmas!!!

Personally, I am more than okay with Christmas music and decorations starting right after Halloween. Thanksgiving is pretty much the official start of the Christmas season. Aka the most wonderful time of the year.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
