I've always enjoyed being able to write because of the great feeling it gives me to express my feelings. Writing is one of those things where ideas can be spread, where whole new worlds are open. We have famous writers like C.S. Lewis and J.K. Rowling and they just have a way with their words that draw you to the page. Every writer has this inside of them, we just have to search and learn what inspires us and then share it with the world. Writing gives me the wonderful privilege to open up to people and bring light to subjects that sometimes can get missed in the fast paced world. The other wonderful thing I enjoy about writing is the community that it brings together. At the Odyssey I am privileged to work with writers from all over who help me create ideas and have a community to help spark ideas and help make my ideas flow. Writing goes so much further than the views also, because I find so much joy in being able to express the things I love and put them down for so many other people to enjoy. I found a quote on writing by Toni Morrison that goes “If there's a book that you want to read, but it hasn't been written yet, then you must write it.” I have never found something to be more true. We all have stories to tell that if they never get written down we are missing the opportunity for them to be remembered. Writing is such a necessity to society because it allows us to continue growing and sharing ideas that can change the world.

Another great part of writing is it can spark so many ideas for other people, helping them to find different techniques to writing and allow themselves to adapt to persuade to different audiences. Writers do take a lot of criticism though, we are forced to have people constantly putting down our ideas. Writers are truly strong people because they are able to be bold enough to share their thoughts knowing that everyone will see it and still being firm in standing with what we say. Writing has been such a great opportunity for me because it has allowed me to discover so much about myself. It allows me to really think about what I am passionate about and what I think is important enough to share. Writing has really allowed me to explore what other people find important and also helped me find different subjects to be able to connect with people. Writing truly is an amazing thing, and I am blessed with the privledge of being a writer.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
