Five Best Phones Before We All Had iPhones

We all miss BBM

Five Best Phones Before We All Had iPhones
UPSIGHT

There was a time, about 10 years ago, when the iPhone did not exist. Instead of iMessage, Snapchat, and Instagram, people communicated via simple text, or if you were cool enough, maybe a BBM. You could tell a lot about someone based on the phone they owned. In my opinion, these were the phones the coolest and hippest kids had (in no particular order).

1. The Sidekick

The sidekick was all about that flip. It looks like any old phone and then BOOM! Big, beautiful, "qwerty" keyboard, truly revolutionary.

2. The Razr

Perhaps not as popular amongst teens, the Razr had a large adult following. All the cool moms had that baby pink Razr.

3. The Blackberry

The Blackberry was truly the pinnacle of cool. Having one meant you were part of the BBM (blackberry messenger) world and would therefore only communicate with people who were also part of that world.

4. The Chocolate

The Chocolate was basically a less cool Razr. It was definitely more popular amongst teens but was nowhere near as sleek or savvy as the classic Razr.

5. The Env

The Env was my very first phone and because of that I will always hold it near and dear to my heart. The "qwerty" keyboard was one of the best out there and the camera captured perfectly pixelated pictures.

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

singing
Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
