She's a three-time Academy Award nominee in Best Writing for her films "Silkwood" (1983), "When Harry Met Sally" (1989) and "Sleepless in Seattle" (1993). Nora, being the incredible writer she was, undoubtedly has hundreds of lines that would make great quotes. These are simply my personal favorites.
1. "Above all, be the heroine of your life, not the victim."
Life is always going to knock you down. It is your own choice if you're going to do nothing about it or fight back and change your life. It's not just changing your actions either but it is also how you choose to see situations.
2. "And then the dreams break into a million tiny pieces. The dream dies. Which leaves you with a choice: you can settle for reality, or you can go off, like a fool, and dream another dream."
Everything doesn't always go as planned. There are times where you work hard but you still didn't take first place. There are moments you won't get back such as winning prom queen, but that doesn't mean you should let it eat at you. You can't turn back time. All you can only spend hours wishing you could.
3. "So much of what I see reminds me of something I read in a book, when shouldn't it be the other way around?"
It isn't wrong to write about adventures you would love to have but why wouldn't you want to do both? Have the adventures and write about them too (or vise versa). Don't just create and read empty words — take action.
4. "[W]hen you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible."
This feeling is the epitome of everything great you have ever learned to do in life. You wished you knew it earlier in life for the sole reason that it makes your life better and you happier. Find more of these feelings every day if possible.
5. "It's much easier to get over someone if you can delude yourself into thinking you never really cared that much."
This has always been my system and I'm glad to see I'm not the only one. It isn't that I act as if they didn't mean anything but I tell myself that this person is just one piece of my whole life and suddenly it seems smaller than I first thought.
6. "I'll have what she's having"
If you haven't seen When Harry Met Sally then this quote might be taken out of context, but that is what makes it so great. You can add it to your own context. When you have huge FOMO, this line fits perfectly.
