The Best News Podcast, Explained

While the podcast trend is taking off, there is one podcast that deserves your time and attention. Keeping up with the biggest issues in the news can be really hard, but for less than 30 minutes a day, you can get an in-depth analysis of one topic within the news.

Vox's "Today, Explained" podcast takes topics such as a decrease in IRS funding to the government shut down and break down the present situation. They add additional layers of analysis and historical significance to the issue so that the listener can have a well-rounded understanding of each issue.

While people tend to view in-depth analysis as a boring experience, "Today, Explained" combines captivating conversation with interesting context, and just a bit of humor to bring the listener into the situation. The podcast, which is free on Spotify, aims to bring Vox's journalistic spirit to your ears. The topics that matter to you matter to them.

Topics as complicated as the Mueller report and the Venezuelan revolution are broken down and explained so that people who know nothing about the topic finish each episode feeling well-informed or inspired to research the topic further. For 30 minutes of your time, you can get a breakdown of the biggest news topics of the day.

Sean Rameswaram, the host of the show, and the rest of the "Today, Explained" team has created a podcast that pulls you into the news in a way that feels fresh and sincere. The beauty of this podcast is the way it utilizes background and/or humor to make challenging news topics more digestible. Being informed about the news is vital to understanding and participating in society.

Today, Explained takes that responsibility of participation and makes it easy. Whether you carve out time or listen during commutes, "Today, Explained" is not only amazing, it's convenient — and completely worth the less-than-30-minutes of time.
