Apple has just released an update for the iPhone that includes new emojis and some new spins on classics! There are some new animals, some updated faces, and a fist bump. However, there is one new emoji that fits any situation, any time. This emoji is so versatile, I could send just it from now on. It conveys any emotion this sad husk of a student could possibly have. It is the shrug emoji.

Here is just a sampling of the many situations the shrug emoji is perfect for.

1. Mundane Questions

2. Assignments

3. Questions you don't know the answer to

4. Questions you do know the answer to

5. Things you don't care about

6. Things you haven't had time to think about

7. Things you'd rather not think about

8. Annoying people

9. Compliments

10. Advice

11. And most importantly, things that just can't be explained

Just remember, with great power comes great responsibility. Use the shrug too much, and people may get a teensy-weensy bit upset. Happy shrugging.
