California is a beautiful place to be. Local natives from Orange County have four amazing nature parks that make them feel lucky about living in such a beautiful place. Don’t get caught up in all the hustle and bustle of the city—look up at the stars, look how they shine. These four great parks have the most amazing views in the county.
Below are great places to relax, breathe fresh air and maybe even share a new experience with someone new or old in your life.
Newport Bay Nature Preserve
2301 University Drive, Newport Beach, CA 92660
Newport Bay Nature Preserve is also a Ecological Reserve that is an astounding 1,000 acres of beautiful open space. The Nature Preserve is made up of bluffs and is home to three sensitive species: the California Gnatcatcher, San Diego Cactus Wren and the Burrowing Owl. It is also home to six rare or endangered species. It is simply beautiful, and even has an amazing winter migration of up to 35,000 birds.
This Nature Preserve offers many different types of activities. Some of these activities are hiking trails, stargazing, walking, and canoe/kayak tours. It is ideal for a calm stroll in the sunset, and offers story telling and crafts. The trails are easy on your knees and parking here is a breeze (there is public parking). It even offers equestrian trails along with bike trails, and lets you bring your dog. Any one can find something they can enjoy at this beautiful gem in Newport. If you just want to become more aware of the preserve, visit its own Interpretive Center; it is state of the art and helps visitors understand the beautiful surroundings.
Crystal Cove State Park

Crystal Cove Park is definitely an amazing getaway. You should consider it for your next staycation. It is a beautiful park that is three miles of Pacific Coastline, wooded canyons, open bluffs and even an underwater park. There is so much you can do here: swimming, surfing, sunbathing, scuba/skin diving, fishing, mountain bike riding and even hiking.
You can see squirrels, rabbits, bobcats, deer, roadrunners, snakes, birds and dolphins at this picturesque location. This is the perfect beach to go to this summer.
Native Knowledge: You can camp at this beautiful location; all you have to do is reserve your spot. Campers have the ability to see the stars in a clearer, different way. Also, if you’re feeling adventurous and want to go for a dive, Reef Point, Rocky Bight or Pelican Point are popular points to go to.
Crescent Bay Point Park

This beautiful park is located in North Laguna, off of bluffs. It has amazing 180 degrees of coastal views. It is a marine refuge area and offers scuba and snorkeling. Many surfers come here to experience the big hollow waves for great body surfing. This small park is definitely romantic, and is an ideal place for a date. If you’re lucky, you can see dolphins swimming in the ocean from the park. It is a great sight to see.
Native Knowledge: This Park is a great place to have a wedding! All you have to do is to obtain a permit. You can work out the details and have amazing views of the night sky at your wedding. It is a truly romantic spot. Check it out when you have a chance--it has great parking!
Top of the World
W Ridge, Laguna Beach, CA 92651
This park is officially named Alta Laguna Park. They call it Top of the World for a reason; the views here are simply breathtaking. The views are amazing because it features inland and coastal views. It offers acres of hiking and biking trails. There are also equestrian trails. The trails here vary in difficulty, so know your limit here so you can enjoy the views rather then worry about your body. This place is also great for picnicking, so bring your sunscreen and sandwiches and come see it for yourself!
This is a great place to bring your kids. There is even a kid area that has swings and slides. The whole family is invited. There’s no better way of spending your day on Top of the World than with the ones you love. Ample free parking is also a plus.
PS: Even your dog can come. Just make sure to bring a leash and bags!
