Rainy days are made for curling up on your coach with a blanket, a bowl of popcorn, and a good movie. Movies are perfect for that gloomy afternoon. Here are the best movies to watch when your stuck home on a rainy day (or if you’re bored)
Clueless (1995)
Hands down one of the most classic movies of our generation. Cher is so relatable, honest, and wears the most exciting outfits. Tai basically knows how we are feeling at all times and Dion always has her friends’ backs. It’s one of the only movies where popularity is used to do good instead of evil. “Rollin with the Homies” will never get old and it is always appropriate to scream out “As if!” Oh, and don’t forget how cute Paul Rudd is.
13 Going on 30 (2004)
Jenna Rink wishes to be “thirty, flirty, and thriving.” Her wish comes true and she wakes up in NYC, running a fashion magazine, with no recollection of her childhood. Nothing is better than curling up with a bag of razzle’s with Jenna and Matty, watching Jenna navigate adulthood while still being stuck in the 80s.
Parent Trap (1998)
If you say you hate Lindsey Lohan, I probably hate you. From the handshake, the soundtrack, and the pranks, there is nothing better than watching Annie and Hallie realize their twins, and not just sisters. Absolutely no one can hate this movie, and if you do, don’t be surprised if your mattress ends up in the middle of the lake.
A Cinderella Story (2004)
Hilary Duff. Chad Michael Murray. Even though the movie was released twelve years ago, it still is relevant. Hilary’s choker necklace couldn’t be more in and Chad Michael Murray still makes us swoon. The diner staff was the perfect family and Fiona made you never want to eat salmon again.
Freaky Friday (2003)
Every daughter and mother argue, but they don’t switch places. Imagine this. Really think about your mother being inside your body and vis-versa. Freaky Friday provides us with constant humor, real-life mother daughter bickering, and of course heartthrob, Chad Michael Murray.
John Tucker Must Die (2006)
Friendship, female empowerment, and sucky relationships are issues we can all relate to. Every character showed us they understood our high school problems and were just as awkward as we ever were. Sophia Bush is unreal, Kate’s mom gives the best advice, the sass is perfect, and the girls weren’t afraid to make the first move. John Tucker’s body is on point and Brittney Snow nails it.
Cheaper by the Dozen (2003)
Honestly, nothing beats a family of 12 kids, Steve Martin, and lots of comical adventures. The Baker family is your average American family. They never let each other down, are always having a good time, can’t survive without each other, and like to soak strangers’ underwear in meat.
Legally Blonde (2001)
Elle Woods does it all. She’s smart, pretty, and knows what she wants. Her loser ex-boyfriend dumps her because she isn’t smart enough for him, so she proves him wrong by getting into the same law school as him, which happens to be Harvard. Elle uses her knowledge on clothes and beauty products to solve a murder. Whoever said black was the new pink was completely wrong.
Mean Girls (2004)
"Mean Girls" has it all. From lessons on girl code and friendship to the catchy one-liners, there is no reason not to love the plastics and all their drama. The movie teaches us that on Wednesdays we wear pink, that fetch will never happen, it’s okay to wear army pants and flip-flops, and that the limit will never exist.
