Monsoon season in Tucson, Arizona is quickly approaching. Now, if your from Tucson or staying here for the summer, this means 100 degree heat with heavy rainstorms that flood nearly every street on campus. But it's also the perfect time to cuddle up with your significant other, best friends, or your softest blanket and watch movies and eat snacks while its pouring outside. I know that staying in and watching movies or playing video games and listening to the rain outside is one of my favorite things to do during monsoon season (other than playing in the rain of course).

1. "Chernobly Diaries"

"Have you heard of extreme tourism"?

If you are looking for a creepy movie to watch while its absolutely pouring outside, making the movie even a little scarier, then Chernobyl Diaries is a must watch. The movie is about "six tourists who hire an extreme tour guide who takes them to the abandoned city Pripyat, the former home to the workers of the Chernobyl nuclear reactor", and everything takes a turn for the worse (IMDB). This movie is my favorite horror movie because I am so interested in the actual Chernobyl disaster that happened in 1986, and this incorporates both the cinematic, theatrical part of movies with actual history. Also, ignore the Rotten Tomatoes score! This movie is amazing, and you should definitely give it a chance.

2. "Finding Nemo"

"Just keep swimming"!

Not only is Finding Nemo an amazing movie for every occasion, it is even better during rainy days. It's the perfect movie to cuddle up with your favorite blanket, and eat candy and popcorn like you're a little kid again at the theaters. Not to mention the movie takes place underwater, which is basically the University of Arizona after monsoon storms hit! I'm sure that 80% of this population has already seen Finding Nemo, but I bet the same 80% of people could watch the movie over and over again!

3. "Dirty Dancing"

"Nobody puts baby in a corner".

An absolute classic, and massive box office hit! This romantic drama movie is about a girl having a romantic relationship with her dance instructor during her family vacation, which not everyone approves of. Also, did I mention that the dance instructor is the 80's cutie Patrick Swayze?! This movie is guaranteed to get you in your feels (especially with the rain falling on your window), and really allows the audience to connect with the cast members. This movie is also known for its iconic dance move where Baby runs and jumps into Patrick Swayze's arms, and he hold her high above his head. Everyone as old as your grandparents and as young as your siblings are guaranteed to enjoy this movie!

4. "White Chicks"

"Making my way downtown. Walking fast. Faces passed. And I'm home bound".

This is probably my all time favorite comedy movie. The first time I saw this movie was the year it came out (2004), and I was 6 years old! I have probably seen this movie literally 30 times; I really believe that I will never get tired of this movie! The Wayans brothers and Terry Crews are hilarious in this movie, and will have you laughing the entire time. This movie is perfect if you're feeling down in the dumps because of the rainy weather because it will cheer you up as soon as it starts.

April Ludgate

Everyone who is in college right now, or has ever been, knows the struggle of pulling in the strings at the last second. It seems impossible, and you have to do a LOT of things in order to assure your future for the next semester.

April Ludgate, historically, is a very annoyed person, and she doesn't hide it. Of all the times that I binged and re-binged "Parks and Rec," her attitude relates more and more to me.

To The Cheerful Person On Their Rainy Days, You Are Valid

The world is not always sunshine and rainbows, and you do not have to be, either.

Ask friends of mine to name a quality about me, and one a lot them will point out the fact that I am almost always smiling. I like to laugh and smile -- not to quote Buddy the Elf in April, but smiling is my favorite! It is probably my favorite go-to expression. However, what a lot of people do not see is that I have my down days. I have days when smiling and laughing is a real struggle, or when I have so much on my plate that going out of my way to behappy takes more effort than I have stored in me. Be it a symptom of college and growing up or a facet of life, I cannot always be content.
