The beauty world is constantly growing and changing with new trends being created as well as new tools that you must have! Let’s face it contouring may have always been a thing (since like the 1500's) but it didn’t become so prominent to the everyday gal until the 2010’s.

While for some makeup has become a career for others it’s a mystery that has yet to be solved. As someone who adores makeup and wears it literally every single day, I am taking it upon myself to make a list of the top 10 things anyone new to makeup should get.

1. Moisturizer

First of all, this is the most necessary thing for anyone to have regardless if you are a makeup user or not. Moisturizer is essential for taking care of your skin especially in seasons like winter that are so cold. For the makeup users, if you want your products to perform accurately you need to give them the proper canvas to work with. I like to use Farsali's Rose Gold Elixir or a little of Dr. Jart+ Cicapair Tiger Grass Color Correcting serum.

2. Primer

Once you've moisturized your fabulous face you need to apply something that will also enhance your makeup's performance. The true purpose is to adhere the makeup to your face and smooth over any bumps. If you're looking for a primer they come in all shapes, sizes, colors, and amount of tackiness (sticky feeling). A good primer is what holds that foundation on and aids in even foundation spreading. They also make eyeshadow primer that I definitely recommend you get as well. Smashbox has great primers, NYX as well as Too Faced have great priming products for the face and separate eyeshadow primers as well.

3. Foundation

Some of us use oil, some of us use mousse and some of us use liquid. It's a matter of preference and skin type. For me, I have dry skin and I use liquid foundation, specifically NARS. Regardless of your choice, this is an important makeup staple. Here's the thing: IT IS NOT CALLED FOUNDATION FOR FUN. Foundation is literally what you build your entire look on.

For Pete's sake, if you don't spend a lot of money on anything at least splurge and get a nice foundation with the correct color. Not too pale and definitely not too orange. There are various brands with lines of cool toned and warm toned foundations. Go to Sephora or Ulta and get an opinion if you truly aren't sure what your tone is.

There's no shame in asking for help especially when it comes to spending money and applying product your face. There are so many wonderful brands that are expensive and inexpensive. I have loved Rimmel London, Benefit, Kat Von D and my ultimate love, as aforementioned, is NARS. There are millions of options, you just gotta go find the one that's right for you.

4. Setting Powder/Spray

Depending on your foundation you may want a setting powder or a setting spray. The best setting powder is by Laura Mercier and I will not budge on this at all. Yes. It is pricey at 40 dollars BUT it does not create facial flashback in photos.

You know those pics you thought would look good but then you're under eyes look like a reflective vest. Face flashback meaning when you take pictures the powder isn't super reflective or shimmery so it isn't caught by the light of a camera flash.

Setting powders are fabulous for keeping everything in place. The spray is best for setting the complete look at the end. I use Tarte's setting spray it smells pretty good and holds pretty well for my makeup. I also hear Urban Decay makes a solid spray as well.

5. Contour Palette

I am personally a HUGE fan of adding contour some days it is a subtle natural contour while other times need a more sculpted, dramatic look. Everyone notes Kim K and Mario Dedivanovic for the contour craze as she is notorious for rocking a natural yet dramatic look.

Mario is known for giving her that look. Contour is not for everyone, however, if you like the look you can try it in powder form or cream/cream stick form. Personally, I am a powder contour girl it doesn't blend completely off of my face like cream does and takes less time to do. Contouring allows you to thin out parts of your face.

I like to sculpt my nose a little bit as well as my cheeks then add a touch of the darker powder to my brows to define them a bit. The contour expert in contour products that I trust is Anastasia Beverly Hills ( I am ABH fanatic). Tarte also has the cutest contour palette called Park Ave Princess that I have heard great things about.

6. Blush

Blush is one of the most underrated beauty staples. I find more people these days that do not use blush and I am shaken. When it was the happening beauty product you didn't leave the house without a dash of blush on and if you forgot you pinched your cheeks.

Now that contour is king and highlight is queen, blush got swept under the mat. Honestly, a touch of blush after contouring then highlighting is the cherry on top of your look. Do not pack your blush on, just lightly graze or "kiss" the cheeks with a touch of color build up when necessary.

The cult classic blush is Orgasm by NARS which has now been created into another shade called Super Orgasm because it was so well received. Milani makes a KILLER blush you can buy at the drugstore and all my fave makeup gurus use it every now and then.

7. Basic Eye Shadow Palette: Warm Brown Tones

My obsession, as well as everyone else's, with brown based nude eyeshadows, began with the Naked Palette by Urban Decay. I think nude shades, golds, taupes and various shades of brown are really easy to work with first because they blend out really well.

Also because you can build up the intensity a little easier starting with a taupe and ending with a brownie shade to pop the outer crease. The good news is if you don't want to drop more than 30 dollars on a palette there are hella dupes that have been created by Maybelline, Morphe and even Urban Decay made a palette half the size with similar shades for a somewhat cheaper price.

8. Black eyeliner

Black liquid eyeliner can be your best friend or a tool of destruction. Either way, it pronounces your eyes and makes them pop.

That being said you need to choose the one that you can work the best. My all-time favorite eyeliner is created by the brand Jordana. The eyeliner is like three dollars and rocks my world. I also love the double-sided liquid and pencil eyeliner by Tarte.

Yes, lining the eyes can be intimidating but it among other things requires practice over time. Get to know the shape of your eye and practice tracing it out without putting on eyeshadow.

9. Mascara

If you prefer to avoid eyeshadow and loathe eyeliner then get yourself a good mascara to make those eyes pop. Some of us dare to branch out with false lashes but even those are not complete without fusing them with your lashes by applying mascara.

Mascara also comes in all shapes and sizes that can lengthen, thicken, and define eyelashes. They come in various shades of blacks, browns, blues, clear and they are also now made waterproof. Every makeup brand has a mascara you can spend whatever amount you want on a mascara depending on your preference.

I use two different types of mascaras made by two different brands because I am particular about the look I want. And I have yet to find the brush that can do it all in one sweep. I have been through hella brands in search of my perfect fit but so far it is provided by the works of Tarte and Buxom.

10. Lipstick

How could a lipstick junkie make a list of makeup staples and NOT include lipstick?! As I have written about in the past I adore lipstick, my lips are one of my favorite features, and making them pop really boosts my confidence. I love a liquid matte lipstick.

That being said I think every girl needs a red shade and a shade that matches their natural lip color with a slight variation. A red lip is bold, fearless and stunning it shows that you don't give a damn in the most beautiful way. Proceed with caution as many a red lipstick lover has chosen the wrong red. If your red looks kinda chalky or streaky pink, just get rid of it.

Blue based red/cool tones work for cool tone complexions. If you have a warm toned skin you can rock colors with a little more yellow base and there are really fun shades of red that you can slay. I avoid yellow base because I don't want my teeth to look yellow. Again, to each their own. Also get a nude color for every day it adds a slight pop and you can really define your cupid's bow.

11. Highlight

Ever wondered why people look like they have a glow about them? Don't let anyone fool you, it's the art of highlighting. Highlighter can be found in powder, liquid or jelly form (thanks to Farsali). Highlight is applied to the areas that you want to standout or highlight (like a sentence in a book).

You typically apply highlight on the cheeks, the bridge of the nose, the inner corners of the eyes, the cupid's bow, right under the eye eyebrow a touch on the collar bones. Highlight gives you that extra umph. I personally love a blinding highlighter.

My true highlighter loves are in the Anastasia Beverly Hills' Glow Palette in Sunkissed and also Coverfx's liquid highlight in Moonlight. Highlight takes second place in my heart right after lipstick.

Hope you all have enjoyed my list of makeup favorites!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

The Importance Of Being A Good Person

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
