As a dedicated Sephora shopper and YouTube beauty guru-lover, summer is probably my favorite time of the year for makeup. Not only do I have time to perfect my technique and shop for new products, it is also a perfect time to pull out bold lip colors and eye looks that I would not wear on a daily basis.
I want to share some of my favorite summer time (maybe all-time) favorite products that are summertime friendly and bang.
1. Morphe Jaclyn Hills Palette
This is definitely a palette that I use year round, but it's also ah-mazing for the summertime, with its highly pigmented glitter shadows. These shimmer shadows are great as an inner color highlight,an accent to a halo-eye or a cut crease. I also appreciate the matte shadows, as they don't get lost in the sauce if you're looking for a more neutral look.
SACHA ButterCup Setting Powder
Staying matte is essential in the summertime. The SACHA Buttercup powder is definitely my holy grail baking powder. Not only does it not leave me looking caked, but there's no flashback!
Tip: Apply a thin layer over your primer before foundation to not only improve the longevity of your foundation, but to prevent creasing!
3. Benefit POREfessional Primer
The first time I tried this primer I was super afraid because it gave a white cast that made me look #TeamAshy, but once I applied my foundation over it, my makeup stayed on for a good 12 hours. Don't be intimidated by the tint during the application process! Once smoothed and applied it's untraceable under foundation.
4. Maybelline Fit Me Matte Foundation
This has been my A1 since Day 1 foundation. While the dewy foundation gives me a natural glowy look, it does tend to crease on my smile lines, especially during my 18 hour day as an orientation leader. Instead I opt for the matte version, which is not only full coverage, but is super long wearing. There's also a wide variety of shades which is noteworthy for a drugstore foundation.
5. Too Faced "Life's A Festival Eyeshadow Palette"
I am definitely an eyeshadow junky, however, this is hands down one of my favorite palettes. The duo-chrome and shimmer shadows look amazing whether applied wet or dry, and help to add a pop of color to any eye look.
Tip: Use the shimmer shadows as highlight for an extra fun look!
6. Too Faced "Peach Mist" setting spray
The Too Faced peach collection is definitely one of my favorite collections from the brand. The Peach Mist setting spray not only has the refreshing (but not overwhelming smell of peaches), but gives your makeup a flawless airbrush finish!
7. E.L.F Lip Plumping Gloss
I used to be a matte lipstick stan, however in the summer I prefer gloss. The E.L.F. Lip Plumping Glosses are not only super inexpensive, but the pumping effect gives a nice shine (and pout effect).
8. BH Cosmetics "Take Me Back To Brazil Palette"
By now, you've probably realized that eyeshadow is definitely one of my favorite parts about summer makeup, but this palette definitely inspired me to step outside the box. This palette is super inexpensive, and the color pay off is amazing... it's a great starter palette for avant-garde looks as well as ideal for colorful cut creases.
9. NYX Born To Glow liquid illuminator
This liquid illuminator can add an extra shimmer and glow to your foundation! You can either wear it mixed in with foundation, or alone for a subtle, skin like glow.
10. Mario Badescu Facial Spray
Not only does this facial spray retail under 20.00, it smells super refreshing. It can be used as a primer and also a setting spray. I love to use this spray to give my makeup a more oxidized finish.
Tip: Once sprayed, add highlighter to high points of face while drying to make highlight stand out.
11. Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara
One of my all-time favorite purchases. I used to think that mascara was mascara, and that any would get the job done... BUT this mascara has definitely changed the game. Not only do my lashes tend to look fuller, they don't look clumpy and crispy.
