Self-Love Is The Best Love

"Listen to this. Take it in."

Self-Love Is The Best Love

I've been thinking lately about how many people struggle with their image. Whether it's their weight or their appearance, so many people doubt themselves. It's heartbreaking. God created us in His like and image and we can't let society overcome His word with negative comments.

In 1 Samuel 16:7 it states:

"But the Lord said to Samuel, "Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart."

I'm speaking to both men and women when I say, LISTEN TO THIS. TAKE IT IN. The scripture says, "but the Lord looks at the heart." Outward appearance does not matter to God. He does not look at the body art you have or that you decided to lose 10 pounds. He looks within at your heart and loves every inch of you.

Struggling with self-love myself, listening to this scripture verse and really dissecting it is hard. I always feel like I'm not pretty enough or that I am not skinny enough. But God does not determine His love for you by your appearance but of your inside.

He loves you no matter your race, sexuality, or gender.

Proverbs 31:25 states:

"She is clothed in strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future."

YOU are beautiful no matter what and God will love you up until the day you join Him in heaven and until eternity.

You can't love someone else unless you learn how to love yourself. You need to learn to listen to God and his word on how you are beautiful in every way. Self-love is, in fact, the best love because God helps us understand that.

"Self-love is the air beneath the wings of all of our relationships." - Elin Stebbins Waldal

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
