Throughout decades, there have been actors with the power to steal hearts and leave a lasting impact upon their viewers. There is a certain actor who has made his mark on millions for almost twenty years. We all know and love him. He is a classic figure in cinematic history. His icy blue eyes and boyish grin combined with his talent of acting has made him a true star. Yes, you know who I’m talking about—the one and only, Leonardo DiCaprio. He has been nominated for countless awards and won an impressive amount (we’re all awaiting that Oscar, of course). In each of his films, he gives 100% of his soul to every performance. Here are examples of his most memorable movies when he killed the acting game.
1. Titanic
I can still remember when I first saw Titanic as a preteen girl and fell head over heels for Jack Dawson. I even recall the exact scene that made me fall for him: “If you jump, I jump, remember?” Ladies, you know this was the moment when you were sold on Leo, too. Let’s not forget the intimate and steamy scene in the old buggie car. There is no doubt that this movie made him an iconic heartthrob (I'll never let go, Jack).
2. The Great Gatsby
Not many actors can pull off the character role of a perfect man… except for Leonardo, of course. When we thought he couldn’t get any hotter, he transformed into literature's golden boy Jay Gatsby. His obsession for the woman he loves, his fabulously grand mansion, his classic gentlemanly good looks along with his wild and extravagant parties make him the ideal bachelor. F. Scott Fitzgerald would have been proud. Cheers to you, Leo.
3. The Wolf of Wall Street
Lots of drugs plus lots of sex plus lots of money turned Leonardo into a rebellious and stimulating leading role in this movie. He plays a Wall Street stockbroker named Jordan Belfort who dominates the economy scene in New York City during the early 1990's. His fast life of decadence and danger shows us the highs and lows of living large. Nobody else could have nailed this role like Leo did.
4. The Revenant
This movie is the game changer of DiCaprio's already successful career. His performance in this film is unlike many of his other roles because it is not a glamorous role nor is it a love story (his scruffy face is still hot though, let's be honest). Leonardo plays a man trying to stay alive in the deep wilderness during the 1800's. It's a tale of choosing between life and death throughout gruesome suffering all on his own. The art of the film is that you feel as if you're a part of it on his journey. The viewer is meant to really feel the intense pain of Leo's character as well as the power of his endured strength. He was nominated for an Academy Award for ‘Best Actor,’ which would be his first time winning an Oscar. It's about time, right?
I mean, how could they deny his beautiful face of an Oscar yet again? Either way, he's got my award (with millions of other women around the world) for the hottest actor ever. At the end of the day, Oscar or no Oscar, Leo is still #blessed.
