Music has a way of connecting people no matter their situation. People are drawn to similar styles of music and genres with slight variations.

There are so many musicians and bands that many people have heard of but never listened to because they get stuck in a music rut. Here are five musicians you might have heard of but never listened to!

1. Moon Taxi

Nashville natives, Moon Taxi, provides the perfect music to chill to. A mix of rock and pop they provide the perfect concert vibe without having to attend one of their shows, but I highly recommend you do!

2. Lord Huron

Originally a one-man, show Lord Huron became a group well known for their live recordings. The perfect nature vibes and ethereal sound are a great combination. Their music is the best to relax in a bath with candles! If you're looking for rainy day tunes Lord Huron is for you!

3. LUTHI

An up and coming group from Nashville, LUTHI has a sound and stage quality you won't forget. This nine-man band gives the ideal mixture of funky, soulful, make you want to dance music. With such a recent start, LUTHI has so much more to offer and I guarantee you they won't disappoint.

4. Jon Bellion

Jon Bellion is producing music suited for any college kid. His mixture of pop, hip-hop, indie, and R&B, provides something for just about anybody. The singer/songwriter tells a descriptive story with all his songs and paired with his album illustrations that visually tell a story. Jon Bellion is the definition of an accomplished songwriter.

5. Young The Giant

Young The Giant is hands down one of the best indie/alternative bands. The band has a unique sound that has grown with each album they've produced. As a live performance, they sound as equally fantastic as their recorded selves. Young The Giant's electronic, rock music and powerful lead singer's voice makes them a band you will never stop listening to!

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.
