Going home for the holidays can be all sorts of things fun, wonderful, stressful, a well-needed break. There is so much to be thankful for during the holiday season that here are just a few things that make your holiday ever so bright.
Your Family:
They may ask you the same questions over and over again that you'd rather not answer. Such as "So, how's your love life? Have you been hitting the gym lately? How are your grades? What exactly do you want to do with your life?" But, at least you know that they have your best interests at heart. Plus, what are the holidays without family? They're your support, and they love you no matter what. It's a time to enjoy that company, see relatives that you don't see very often, joke around with your siblings, everything.
The Food:
Isn't it great to be back from school and have home-cooked meals for a while? I think so. Christmas dinner, delicious, access to a fridge with actual food in it, wonderful. It's a time to be alive and man did you really miss Mom's cooking.
The Mind Break:
For a couple weeks you have no more homework, no school obligations, nothing. It's amazing, the perfect time to catch up on sleep... in your own bed and binge-watch a new show on Netflix. Or maybe just chill on the couch with your family and watch Christmas movies for a week straight. Take this time to give yourself a little break before the crazy starts all back up again in early January.
The Traditions:
One of the best things about the holidays is participating in those little family traditions that you all do every year. Whether it's finding the pickle in the Christmas tree, elf on the shelf, Grandma setting out little Santa chocolates on your dinner plate, or going to sit on Santa's lap with your whole family no matter how old you are, family holiday traditions a big part of the holidays. They make them just that little bit extra special, and those are the things you remember years from now.
There are a lot of "best" parts about going home for the holidays, these were just a few of the many.
