These 10 Harry Potter Characters Started My Fangirl Life

I started my fangirling in 4th grade, how about you?

I know this will sound like a total cliche, but I am a die-hard Harry Potter fan (I'm totally serious, ask me about my trip to Universal Studios when this is over.) I remember reading my first Harry Potter novel in the fourth grade, and I remember this so vividly because this was when my love for reading was at its zenith. While almost 10 years later, the story of The Boy Who Lived still means as much as it did in elementary school, if not more. In honor of my 10 year anniversary as a Potter fan, I decided to pay homage by personally thanking 10 of my favorite characters in the series.

1. Harry Potter

Is this even a thing if I don't mention Harry? Thank you, Harry, for picking bravery over everything. Thank you for not minding your business at Hogwarts, and always bringing me along with you on your adventures. While your inferences weren't exactly accurate, your ability to stay until the end (the very end) was a message to me in a sense that even though we do not choose our destinies, it is up to us as to what we make out of our experiences.

2. Ronald Weasley

"How dare you steal that car?" Honestly, I'm really glad that you did, because if you didn't... well that would have been the ending of one of my favorite stories. When you joined the Gryffindor Quidditch team in your 5th year, you taught me that our failures truly do not define us, rather what we do with those failures makes us who we are.

3. My good sis Hermione Granger

I think every little girl who read Harry Potter wanted to see Hermione in themselves at one point. Hermione taught me that it is perfectly fine to be smart and to hold that identity close to our hearts. While I'm still waiting for the alternative Yule Ball where Ron asks you first, I'm so happy that you chose your happiness. Even though you look out for your friends, you never forgot your worth, and that is what makes you ah-mazing.

4. Luna Lovegood

I knew the moment that I was introduced to Luna Lovegood that she would definitely be one of my favorite characters. Luna was actually me the adolescent version of me (if I had long blonde hair and blue eyes and had my ears pierced but you get the idea). Moreover, Luna was the girl that everyone called "weird" or "crazy" because she saw the world differently, just like me, and she wasn't afraid to do so. For that Luna, we raise our wands to you.

5. Draco Malfoy

I have been a Draco Malfoy stan for a while. He's honestly my number 1 favorite character ( we stan a plot twist). I've always favorited the bad guys, and he's high key my favorite. He also may or may not be my childhood crush but we'll roll with it.

6. Molly Weasley

I'm not even gonna lie, I didn't realize how much I admired Molly until I got older, which is why I think I love her so much. The way she took Harry under her wing was super amazing, and she's totally applause-worthy.

7. Shacklebolt Kingsley

Kingsley is definitely an unsung hero. He seemed to always be there when we needed him, and he is always dressed to the nines.

8.Fred and George Weasley

My favorite class clowns. Life at Hogwarts, from a viewer's perspective, can seem super serious and stressful. Thankfully, Fred and George never failed to bring light to the scene.

9. Neville Longbottom

How can we forget about Neville? He never failed to rise to the occasion, and he definitely made his parents proud. When so many people counted him out, he refused to live under that label.

10.Ginny Weasley

High-key glad that Harry saved you from the chamber of secrets. I feel like we watched Ginny grow from a Harry twitter stan to his biggest fan in the most mature way possible. She always rooted for him and her bravery was impeccable.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!

There is nothing quite like family.

Family is kinda like that one ex that you always find yourself running back to (except without all the regret and the angsty breakup texts that come along with it).

No matter how long your class is, there's always time for the mind to wander. Much like taking a shower or trying to fall asleep, sitting in a classroom can be a time when you get some of your best ideas. But, more than likely, you're probably just trying to mentally cope with listening to a boring lecturer drone on and on. Perhaps some of the following Aristotle-esque thoughts have popped into your head during class.

Bob's Burgers is arguably one of the best and most well-written shows on tv today. That, and it's just plain hilarious. From Louise's crazy antics to Tina's deadpan self-confidence, whether they are planning ways to take over school or craft better burgers, the Belchers know how to have fun. They may not be anywhere close to organized or put together, but they do offer up some wise words once and awhile.
