To My Best Friend Who's Going To College 5 Hours Away

"You've Got A Friend In Me" as it says in "Toy Story."

The first day of 8th grade when we met, I knew we were going to be best friends and graduating from high school. The day we graduated from 8th grade, I knew we were going to a bigger school, you weren't scared, I was scared. The first day of freshman year, we were together walking into the high school we would call "our future" and "our alma mater." The last first day of senior year where we couldn't believe we were actually seniors and you were on the varsity football team and I was the senior girl who was cheering you on.

The day I got my senior pictures done you were surprised to see my senior pictures because I wasn't the nerdy, brace face tomboy 13 year old you meet in 8th grade. The day you got your senior pictures, I was surprised to see your senior pictures because you weren't the guy I met who had braces the EXACT same time I did. Me and You both grew up to be amazing young adults (even if I'm still the nerd)...

The day of prom, you were surprised that I wore a prom dress, because I was a nerdy tomboy. I was actually the nerdy tomboy who had a girly side. Thank you for not judging me wearing a prom dress even if you would be joking around with me about wearing girl stuff.

The day you committed to my rival college, I was proud of you. I knew we would always give each other a hard time because we were rivals once you went to that college 5 hours away.

The day we had our last day of high school, We couldn't believe we were actually done with high school. We were done with our high school finals and we were ready for the "real world" You were ready, I was ready we were ready to grow up and be adults and live out our lives.

Baccalaureate, I couldn't believe we were actually done with high school. You mean (and still) everything to me, you were my scapegoat, my brother, my best friend, the guy who would totally accept me being a tomboy. We hugged and cried on each other after baccalaureate.

High School Graduation, I told you we made it, you told me we both made it. You cheered me on so hard when I got my diploma (along with my family, well you're my family). I cheered you on so hard when you got your diploma. We knew we were going to graduate high school together.

We promised each other that we would visit each other when winter breaks, thanksgiving breaks, summer breaks would happen and then when we talk we talk right just where we left off. We talk about the future (how awkwardly both of our majors would be in the medical field), We talk about the next time we'll see each other, everything.

Your not just my best friend you're like my family, my brother, my scapegoat, my braces at the same time buddy. We did all of the same things together.

We did a lot together. Had braces at the same time. Had the embarrassing moments together. We stick together through stuff. Like the song You've got a friend in me You've got troubles, and I've got 'em too
There isn't anything I wouldn't do for you We stick together and can see it through 'Cause you've got a friend in me You've got a friend in me.

You always have a friend in me.

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.

Barn Pros

Growing up I have always wanted to own a horse. My grandparents own a well known equestrian facility in Georgia, so I have been riding since I was born. A bond between a person and their horse is a bond so strong that it cannot be broken. Everywhere I went I wanted to be around horses, even forcing my family to go on trail rides during vacations. Horses have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember has taught me great responsibility, as well as 14 things that all equestrians can relate to.

College is super hard. Between working, studying, and having a social life, it feels like a struggle to just keep afloat.

I understand. When you feel like your drowning and there's no way to stay afloat I understand that it feels like everyone else is doing just fine. I understand all the frustration, long nights in the library, and that feeling that you want to just throw in the towel. I understand that sometimes it's too hard to get out of bed because your brain is already filled with too much information to remember. I understand because I am also feeling pretty burnt out.
