To My Best Friends, Thank You

“You will never be completely at home again, because part of your heart always will be elsewhere. That is the price you pay for the richness of loving and knowing people in more than one place.” -Miriam Adeney

To My Best Friends, Thank You
Nicole Gambino

Not everyone is lucky enough to say they found their best friend in 6th grade. Thankfully, I can say I not only found one best friend at the age of 11, but two. You both deserve to hear this from me everyday. Thank you for your friendship and all that you do for me..

Thank you for being the two most selfless and down to earth people I have met thus far in life. You guys have never failed to drop anything/everything for me, and you would do just about anything to help someone out. Both of your hearts are filled with nothing but love and kindness.

Thank you for having that crazy, goofy personality. This is easily my favorite thing about the both of you. Whether it’s hideous double chin selfies that you send me once a week, awful dance moves, or overall acting like a weirdo, you never fail to make me laugh till I cry. Sometimes I catch myself watching old videos of the both of you making a fool out of yourself just for a good laugh. Even from a distance, you tend to make my bad days better.

Thank you for making me feel loved and good enough. On some of the worst days of my life, you were always their to cheer me up and keep me going. You consistently put positive thoughts in my head.

Thank you for being spontaneous. I know I can always count on the both of you if I randomly wanted someone to get a tattoo with me or possibly jump out of a plane. Even if sometimes I have to beg you to do something a little reckless, you never let me down. I was definitely blessed to find two people who are just as crazy as I am.

Thank you for always being a phone call away. Even though college has taken us in different directions, you’ve both always remained right over the phone if I needed you. Whether it's been to talk about life, vent my heart out, or cry for hours, you've always answered and gave me your full attention.

And lastly, Thank you for all the advice. From problems with school, to family, or boys, you've helped me out with it all. You never sugarcoated anything or pushed me in the wrong direction. You were always there when no one else was. You told me the truth, as hard as it was to hear. The honest advice and opinions throughout the years have helped me make so many better decisions.

The both of you have no doubt changed my life and formed me into the person I am today. It’s said that you find your best friends in college, but I know for a fact that I found my lifelong friends 8 years ago in middle school. I don't know how or why I was so blessed to have met you guys at a young age. Being able to experience the true meaning of friendship throughout middle school and high school was such a gift. There’s no doubt in my mind that I’ll be at your weddings and watch you both grow into successful, beautiful adults.

I love you both.

Thank you for everything.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
