To My Best Friends, Thank You

Some people make you laugh a little louder, your smile a little brighter and your life a little better.

To My Best Friends, Thank You

They always say that college will be the best four years of your life. As I am entering my third year of college, I completely agree with this statement. So far, college has been the best three years of my life.

The biggest reason is that I have been blessed with finding my best friends. Without them by my side, I would not have made it through these past few years as easily as I have. I am blessed enough to have not only one best friend but multiple best friends.

As the years go on, I have learned that it becomes less important to have a ton of friends, and more important to have the real ones. Quality is way more important than quantity. Thank you for always standing by my side.

To my best friends, thank you. You have been there for the good times and the not so good times. You help make the good times better and the hard times easier. You make me laugh, when I don’t even want to smile. When my world is crashing down, you help to remind me that everything will be alright. Thank you.

My life often tends to be a hot mess, yet for some reason you continue to stick by my side and help me through it. Regardless of the situation I am faced with, you are always there lending me support.

You help make my life easier. Thank you for loving the good, the bad, and the ugly me. Thank you for the endless encouragement.

When I am faced with a tough situation, you remind me that I am strong enough to handle it. When a stupid boy tries to tear me apart, you are there for me and give me all of the advice in the world. Thank you for for making my problems your problems, so that I don't have to go through them alone.

Thank you for constantly reminding me of my worth. Thank you for always sharing positivity, when I am filled with negativity and for lifting me up when I am feeling down.

You know that you don’t always have to agree with me to make me happy. Thank you for saying what needs to be said, regardless of whether or not it is what I want to hear.

You don’t just tell me to get over it. Instead, you find a way to help me through whatever I am faced with. Thank you for always being willing to help me out.

Although we might not always see eye to eye, thank you for getting upset with me over stupid mistakes I have made. You have helped me become a better, stronger person because of this.

We might not talk every day, but I know that you will always have my back and be there for me. Thank you for always being willing to listen, regardless of the hour of the day.

Thank you for joining in on my weirdness. Thank you for the random dance parties, late night trips to Walmart, nights out on the town, movie nights, and High School Musical jam sessions. Thank you for the endless memories that will never be forgotten.

Thank you for putting up with me, for laughing at my terrible jokes, for sharing your food with me, for protecting me, for always being there for me, for always telling me the truth, for the friendship we share and for everything.

Thank you. You really are the best.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
